Processes and Startup
Note: You need to have Windows Xp for this to work.
Processes
Ok chances are your here because your computers
a little slow and you want to get it a faster
Ok first thing first go into your Windows Task
Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete.Ok now switch
over to Processes which is at the top of the menu.
Ok now you should see a list of processes going on
on your computer. I'm assuming you have no idea what
most of these things are. Some of these could be spyware,
adware, viruses, etc. Then some others are required for
your computer to work. To find out which prosseses are bad
and which ones are good go to Process Library
and type the names of the procss in the search bar and read
about it and find out if it's bad or good. Then end that
process if it's bad but DO NOT end it if it's from Windows
or if it's an windows component.
Startup
This is a very important part to get your computer
faster than it is now starting up. First thing click Start
then Run then type in msconfig or msconfig.exe. At the top
click startup then once again you will see another long list
or programs that are running on your computer. This time go to
google and type the name of the program your wondering about.
Then uncheck it if you do not want it to start when you start
up your computer. Couple of these could be viruses, spyware, adware
and other unwanted stuff. Personally I have about 25 programs that
are on the list and only about 10 are checked. After your
done all the unchecking stuff klick accept or ok and then
you'll get a message saying You need to restart your computer
for these changes to be made blah blah blah. When your computer
restarts it should be faster than before and you will get a message
that you can just check and then klick ok or accept or whatever.
And it says you should put it on normal mode which i stongly advise
you not do.
