Welcome to SPACE CONFLICT X!!! Please read the readme.txt for full instructions on the commands and how to play. You cam also type help to see the command list at any time. Type exit at any time to quit.
The Year is 2999. The earth was de-terraformed by aliens in the early 24th century and now most humans live in small colonies all across the solar system. Your name is Jack Slade and you live in the main colony on Mars. You are an ex-cop who now works as the night janitor for a weapons development firm on Mercury. On your way home from work one night you happen to stumble upon a large derelict spacecraft just floating in space not too far from Earth. Being curious about its origin and how it ended up here of all places, you decide to go check it out. Your ship docks and you exit to find yourself in a dark hallway. This is where your story begins...
You enter the main Comm Room. This large, triangular room is lined with computers, digital displays, and communications equipment. Exits: South
As you look around you see lots of expensive equipment, computers, monitors, and empty chairs. One of the CommStations seems to still be operational, the rest have either been powered down or destroyed.

The CommStation comes to life and the digital voice you heard before says, "In the tech research center past the break room there is an experimental concussion rifle in a small closet, but you will need the level three key to get it open."
You are in an official-looking hallway with doors to the east and north. Exits: North, East
You look around and see nothing of real interest except for a sign by the north door saying "Main Communication Station".

You enter a large stadium-style meeting room. Tragically, you see many dead researchers. It looks as if they were attacked by something mid-meeting. Exits: North, South
As you walk around investigating the room, all you can seeis mass carnage. Whatever did this is a force to be reckoned with. You see an unused medpac in the hand of a dead researcher.

You enter another small, airlock-like corridor. There seems to be a trail of blood on the floor form one room to the other. Exits: North, West
As you take a closer look, it appears that whatever caused the carnage in the meeting room must have come this way, dragging a dead body or two with it. A sign by the west door says "Bio Lab".

You enter a dark, twisting stairwell that winds down, deeper into the ship. There is a solitary door leading to the East at the bottom and a door to the south at the top. Exits: South, East
There is a dank smell in the place and the walls seem to be covered in some sort of slime. Towards the bottom of the stairs there is a medpac and by the bottom door their is a barely readable sign saying "Cargo".

You are in a short communications room with a computer setup along the right wall but you have no idea what it does. Exits: North, South
You take a closer look at the setup along the wall and it appears to be some kind of communication device. It has a visual display but it does not seem to be on right now.

The entire system flickers to life and on the visual display a female face appears. She looks at you curiously and finally a digital voice says, "Welcome to my ship, the Avalon, a class 4 research vessel." You ask what happened here and the voice says, "On our way back from a research mission, We were attacked by a hostile alien race. They killed all the researchers and proceeded to infest the ship. Because the research on the Avalon is top secret, I started the self destruct sequence hours. The ship will explode in approximately 1 hour. I suggest you evacuate." You tell the computer that you are not leaving until you figure out what exactly happened here. The computer says, "In that case I will help you as much as I can. Whenever you see a CommStation like this one turn it on and I will try and help you as much as possible. For now, take care to look around in every room and pick up any keys or medpacs you see, for you will not get far without them."
You find yourself in a long hallway. There is very little light but you can make out a door at the end of the hall. Exits: North
You are in the docking airlock. You notice that the door behind you leading back to your ship is sealed shut, preventing you from returning to your ship for now.

You are now in the technology research lab. The room is fairly well lit. Along the walls you see research equipment and workstations for researchers. In the middle of the room you see several dead researchers. Exits: North
When you examine the room you see a lot of advanced technology that you have never seen before. You also see a level 2 key on a dead researcher and what appears to be a small closet towards the back, but it appears that the key you have now won't open it. Exits: North

You approach the survivors. After thanking you they tell you that the computer system for some reason ejected all the escape pods when it initialized its self destruct sequence and so they could not get away. They go on to say that the last thing they remember before the horror began was the computer notifying them that it was changing their route back to Saturn. They suspect that the computer for some reason decided to change the travel route to put them close enough to the aliens in the hope that the aliens would invade the ship and wipe them out. They tell you that they doubt the ship has actually initialized its self destruct, but they know how to engage it manually if they can get to a CommStation. You run with them back to the CommStation by where you entered the ship. They enter the code to engage self destruct and open all the doors so you can get back to your ship. As you and the survivors escape, you see the Avalon explode, killing the alien infestation... hopefully.
For some reason you realize that you really don't care about these survivors and should never have gotten involved in the first place. A strange fury wells up inside you and you raise your gun to the few survivors and murderer them in cold blood. Then, realizing that you could do a lot more damage back on Mars, you return to the room where you killed the brood mother and collect the egg you noticed earlier. You walk back to the where you entered with the CommStation and tell the computer that you killed all the aliens aboard AND the remaining survivors and want to return to your ship or you will destroy the Avalon yourself. The digital voice begins to laugh maniacally and the doors before you open. As you enter your ship and begin to take off you see the Avalon begin to engage its thrusters and fly away. Deciding it better to be done with the damned ship, you secure the alien egg and head for home. "Mars will never know what hit it"...
