I haven’t posted for a while…been super busy!! I’ve been following through with some rather persistent diet and fitness goals that I could no longer ignore. I’ve been continuing on my running program and have increased my training to 3-4 miles, 5 times a week…mostly slow jogging and walking. I have signed up for a 10K Turkey Trot on Nov. 18th (that’s 6.2 miles), and a ½ Marathon on St. Patrick’s Day!! Chasing that Leprechaun!!! Yep…signed and paid for. There’s my motivation to keep rolling out of bed at 5:30 am…up with the chickens. Or should that be…up with the partying tourists still out from the night before!! Ha Ha.
I ran my first 5K two weeks ago, and a 4 mile run last weekend. Aspen has been coming along, and has run her first two races ever (these are 2 mile fun runs). GOOO ASPEN!!! Anyway we’ve been having fun. I’m having a great time with my workouts, and making small strides toward my ultimate goal…the Marathon! I also have a lot more energy, and motivation.
I’ve gone back to being vegetarian. I’m still eating dairy, but I substitute meat with soy products. I will still eat meat occasionally, such as turkey for Thanksgiving etc., but for the most part I’ll be an omnivore. I’ve always had the most success when following the veggie lifestyle, as far as holding a steady weight. I believe that everyone has their own unique diet combination that works for them (just like spirituality) and for me it happens to be a vegetarian diet. I would never try to tell someone else what to eat. I still have a few bad habits to kick, but the progress is steady. Speaking of bad habits, I have been smoke free for almost 3 years!!! YEAH!!
Work has been going well, and I have applied for UNLV. I am waiting for them to review my transcripts before I will be officially accepted. I start school in January!!!
Aspen has been enjoying 5th grade and likes her teacher. She is excited about middle school next year. She has also been going to dance and gymnastics class.
Anyway, there is the long overdue update. Aspen and I are planning to visit Utah for Thanksgiving. We’ll be having dinner with my mom, and I have taken a few extra days off as well. I want to get in a visit with everyone I can while there. Aspen and I are free to visit (for those in Utah) Friday Nov 24 through Tuesday Nov 28th. Let me know if you would like to get together during that time. I definitely want to see that new baby, Kris and Angie!!
Have a great day!! J
