Catching up with Korie

Hi there folks,

Things have been going well at my new job.  I have transferred to the Environmental Health Division of the Health Department.  I like the new office for a few reasons.  1st, I have my own space i.e. computer and desk with places to put my personal photos and such.  I also have my very own phone!! This is very nice for me to be able to give out a direct number to the babysitter and Aspen’s school, among others for emergency purposes.  This gives me much more piece of mind.  Before I had to share computers/desk space and phones with 10-15 other people, and was always moving around.  It feels good to finally settle down.  The new position is just a lateral, but it is in the department I have always wanted to work for.  It also fits into my long term career plan to finish my degree in Biology/Environmental and work as a Health Inspector.  That will no doubt prove to be very interesting working here in Las Vegas.  This city is so diverse, and the restaurant business is huge here, as you know.  We have made it up to 1.8 million residents, and 3-400,000 tourists on the weekends!

Things have been busy for me recently.  Just a few days ago, I went to see Depeche Mode in concert at the Hard Rock Casino.  They are my all time favorite band as I am a child of the 80’s.  The concert was very cool, even though I had General Admission tickets for standing only on the floor, amidst a lot of other sardines.  No complaints, though, the tickets were free, after all, from the local 80’s station.  I Think I’ve heard something somewhere about complementary horses and their oral cavities?  And it seems, no matter where I moved to, some tall guy was always right in front of me.  There must be a conspiracy against me by the men of the very tall, and smelling of pot.  I had a lot of fun dancing around like a fool, and ended up feeling it more that I did at 15. That is to be expected, I forget I’m not young anymore.  Just 2 weeks till my 32nd birthday. Scary. I missed my friend Lorna, who couldn’t make it due to being sick.  She is feeling better now and I hope that trend continues.

Well, I’d better get some actual work done around here…It’s been a slow day for once here at work.  It’s nice to relax a little with how busy we have been lately, plus the training and all.  I’m really starting to settle in and get comfortable with my new job.  I’ll write more when I have any news, thoughts, or ideas to share.  As always, thanks for listening to my ramblings.
