The study of Keiki is a japenese belief. It is depicted as something that comes from within the person, not a gift from god.
Gohan is a prime example using lots of training and practise to become one of the strongest saiyans.
His gift was not passed down to him.
   Gohan has illustrated the usage of Keiki. It is a religious belief that the Japense believe in. The thoughts of the Keiki relgion are  as follows.  You have to do things for yourself, it comes from within the person, You are to become what you want to be, and traits don't get passed down from generation to generation. Gohan who was raised by his father ( Goku ) has become very interested in becoming a greater saiyan and gaining powers just like his father has. In dragonball Z there are other races just the same as regular life. Instead of having the same races as we do on earth, they have other races such as Namek's, Androids, Saiyans, etc. Gohan who was trained by his father had come to learn some of the things of becoming a great saiyan just like his father. In dragonball Z you have the option  of going into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber which is located on the lookout of Kamis. Basically  the Hyperbolic Time Chamber is a place where there is infinite space, an exit to leave, and a room to eat and sleep. At this place you can go in and train, you get a year's worth of training but it's only equivalent to one earth day.You can only get this luxury two times in your lifetime. Gohan had only used it one time because he showed such great improvement from all of his training with his father. The aid of Goku along side of him training was defenitely beneficial. Goku being the strongest of the saiyans had plenty of knowledge that he could teach his son.
Although Gohan had immense physical training with his father, He also had inner training. Old Kai helped Gohan with meditation.

    







 


With the saiyan race there are different levels of super saiyan. Super saiyan is a
transformation where they become even stronger. This only comes with intense practising. There are four kinds of super saiyans that you can become.
During the Cell episode ( cell is an evil enemy) Gohan had become a very important character, Goku who knew he couldnt defeat Cell at this time, he had sensed Gohan had come along way and he was extremely powerful at this time so he decided to let his son face off against the evil enemy. Gohan faced off against The cell,  during the battle Gohan had powered up to Super saiyan 2 which then he easily destroyed Cell. After this big defeat against Cell he decided he wanted to stop training for a while and go to school. While Gohan was in school everyone proceeded on with their training.

To be able to come a certain level of super siayan is takes immense training and knowledge. It show's that the importance of Keiki belief has been used in this show at several points not only with Gohan but with all of the other warriors. Gohan had showerd such improvement and illustrated the Keiki belief. Gohan had practised and was determined to beoome a great saiyan just like his father. Gohan wanted to become a greater saiyan as well and those are the resemblences with that Japenese belief
