| I would like to warn everyone of the Pacific Institute in Seoul. It is a new Hagwon and may also go under the name of Oxford American English. As new teachers arriving in Seoul, my husband and I expected challenges and that there may be some problems. However, we did not expect that literally every detail of our contract would be broken and that the director would lie to our faces. We got pretty burned by this guy and would hate to see it happen to others. We are back home in Canada now and may return to Korea in a month or two. We did find several other schools in Seoul that are reputable and that we would feel confident in signing contracts with. I recommend to anyone considering taking a job in Korea to fly there first and do your job search in person. Check out the school, the curriculum, and talk to the director. We weren't in a financial position to do that so we took a risk and went with a school that we thought we could trust. I think one of our mistakes was going with a new school. There was no history or previous/existing teachers to contact and ask about their experiences. We are trusting people and wanted to give the new school a chance. Unfortunately, it did not work out. I would also like to note that we used a recruiter by the name of Julien Poe. If you have any questions or would like to know more about our experience feel free to contact me.
