| i've seen rainbow obsidian vaguely mentioned everywhere as the "stone of pleasure," which somehow sounds a bit disrespectful to obsidian...? or that it gives you the "life is beautiful" feeling. now, i did have an extremely strong reaction when i first saw it. the word that possibly comes to mind is "cathartic" rather than the blithe or simplistic happiness one tends to infer from these descriptions. rainbow light out of darkness? remember, this is volcano glass. meaning there were deep heavy forces of nature at work involved in its creation. some really hot magma cooled so fast it didn't have time to form crystals like other rocks (& thus it became glass). so this may either be the "easiest" of all obsidians, or possibly the most intense. | ||||||||||||||||||

| judging from the heat synergy it built up w/ the rainbow tabby quartz, it might in fact be a powerful crown chakra cleaner. black obsidian is normally connected w/ the root chakra, & kundalini itself can be compared to a volcano which sleeps, awakens & rises up from the depths to the surface. the strong heat sensation flared from the neck up, starting with the throat chakra, possibly because of the base teal/aqua color. basically someone flicked the light switch on & my head lit up. i ended up wearing a lot of grounding stones (including black obsidian & snowflake!) just to cool myself down. lots of power in this little beat-up piece of glass...! because the rainbow contains all colors, it might work well w/ all the chakras. but i think its base color might have some influence on this. so if you had rainbow sheen on black obsidian, that might start w/ your root chakra instead. the black might naturally ground the rainbow (& you). or you might need to be very cautious combining w/ rainbow quartz. if there were intense heat sensations, it'd probably hit your whole body, not just from the neck up like the teal :o ok, maybe this is why they call it the "stone of pleasure," if you get a pleasurable full-body kundalini response. but if you're prone to uncomfortable heat reactions w/ kundalini, i'd suggest using lots of grounding stones... |
