| now, there may be another use for this jasper-- at least, that's what my primitive past-life persona seems to think. he quickly started jumping up & down yelling "rainmaker!" well, jasper was supposed to be traditionally used by native americans in rainmaking ceremonies--which i'd conveniently forgotten. also i am now a reincarnated stupid white person & know absolutely nothing about this ancient art. but he seemed to think blue jasper with cloud patterns was the logical choice--like duh, & here i'd just been thinking of it as a NASA stone. my bad. let me mention here i did a lot of spontaneous past-life recall work about 16 years ago when i wasn't looking for it. & that during this time i coincidentally had a large hunk of petrified wood on a knick-knack shelf along with some quartz river pebbles. it was completely unknown to me at the time that petrified wood helps you tap your past lives. i have recently dug this piece out of the drawer where it's been for years & have acquired several new pieces & fossils. they've all taken up permanent residence on my coffee table. & this persona or former self as it were occasionally tosses me a vision. like washing a large hunk of snowflake obsidian in a river, along with 2 other blond jaspers, both of these cut as right-angled triangles & a black tip & a black bottom on each. nice-looking stones i wouldn't mind having, in other words. anyway apparently he knows something about stones, i've seen a few of them. well, "he" was in 7th heaven over the NASA jasper & primed for mischief. besides, it'd been overcast for days & no rain, so... well, according to the "wisdom" thus acquired, do not use citrine with it, which i "stupidly" put out at first. the citrine will clear an existing cloud bank & bring the sun back out. by sheer coincidence, of course...oops. i/we rationalized this as "well, plants need the sun too." the next day it's only a little cloudy. & we really really did need the rain. so then my "corn stone" came out of the bag. this is a little piece of bright yellow jasper exactly the same size & shape as a corn kernal. & out came this teeny tiny piece of moss agate mysteriously shaped like a corn leaf. i'd never used them before, they were in a container with jewelry parts for years & had just been re-found & salt water cleaned maybe a week before. i stick them on the coffee table with the NASA stone & bring out the turritella agate too in case it helps me remember something useful. then i ran around the house smudging everything in sight with my fan & jumping around like a crazy person & cursing cause i can't remember the traditional dances. next thing i know, up pops my ancient egyptian persona, who urbanely informs me i should be tossing incense on a brazier instead --in stately fashion, of course. geez already, everybody has their own working methods, ok? then i get a brief image of a wailing starving crowd of ancient egyptians. near as i can figure out, there was too much rain & they'd been hit by crop blight. well, a timely & true warning: & stars in the eyes (this may even be his real name for all i know) starts waxing philosophical about the great responsibility of rainmaking. his main concern at first was that if you make it rain in one place, you might be stealing rain from another place & plants/people there would go without. then "he" started thinking seriously about crop blight. after all, molds & things like to grow on wet grains... well, i don't think we were in real danger of that at the moment, but "he" sent me scurrying to inspect the corn stone. weren't there some dark markings on it? agh! we don't want to conjure corn blight! think of all the poor farmers in the county! but not to worry, we have mahogany & snowflake obsidian out too! green would be better, but this'll do in a pinch. & lots of turquoise too to keep the obsidian happy! so the corn should be safe if we smudge some more & talk to the stones. especially if we ask the obsidian very very nicely to take care of any negativity that could befall the corn... ok, after all this stars in the eyes calmly informs me that if we wanted to do real rainmaking we should use bigger stones. & do it outside. maybe with a real big piece of quartz! like then we could just zap the clouds & make them rain. well, this might not be so far-fetched: maybe if you messed with a cloud's electromagnetics you could cause the cloud to discharge in the form of rain. i'm not really sure how the science end of it might work but it sounds logical to me. & strangely enough, as part of the "star wars" program, the U.S. government has developed this giant laser (shades of austin powers?) called HAARP. this "giant laser" is powered by quartz & it's up in alaska somewhere. & some people are very alarmed by the mere thought of it being tested. they predict possible dire consquences such as weather patterns being disrupted & maybe even giant tears in the ozone layer, due to the earth's rotation. hmm, maybe it would be safer (& less ominous) to do cloud seeding. & maybe i'll just leave the weather alone. well, i wasn't using any quartz, but i put everything up anyway. end of today's past-life lesson. the next day it rained like crazy ;) |
