Sunny was born on Earth's moon, destined to live in the stars. She would sit in the enclosed courtyard and stare through the aluminum above her for hours. When she joined Starfleet right after graduation, her parents were not surprised.
Sunny graduated in the top 20% of her class with degrees in the following:
for one of her runabouts, the USS Rio Grande. As a pilot, she played a key part in the various evacuations of the station just before the Dominion attack. She was promoted to Lt due to her bravery and expert 
flying in pulling the Rio Grande through a fire fight to save the civilians on board. The Rio Grande made it to Bajor without a scratch.
During her time on DS9, her brother's ship, also assigned the 
the Cardassian border, was caught in a fire fight with the Cardassian/Dominion Alliance. The USS Yamato was destroyed and he was declared MIA, possibly dead. Sunny holds a serious grudge against Cardassians for taking her brother from her.
They had only just returned to DS9 after the seige when she received her orders to head for Lerins Outpost and wait for the USS Nova.
Sunny didn't spend much time on the Nova before
Sunny was then reassigned to the USS Iomega. She is excited about being back on the edge of the Cardassian/Federation border at the new colony the Iomega is to be reporting in to. She believes in her abilities and, with her vast experiences behind her, thinks she is the best for the job. She's also looking forward to the possibility of finding her brother.
