Famous Singers,,,
Statistics, discography, recommended songs, pretty much anything involving some of Japan's most impacting singers. I am a big fan of Japanese pop/rock music, more commonly known as J Pop or J Rock (if you didn't already know). I mean, this is all I listen to. I get comments all the time because I hardly know what's playing on the radio...since I prefer Japanese music! In my opinion, it's better than American music most of the time...
Also, you'll find some people on here who are voice actors/actresses for anime. This is not uncommon at all. ^_^

The queen of pop/R&B, Namie Amuro, sure has risen above our expectations. Her musical genres include: R&B, Techno Dance Music, pop, and a touch of Hip-Hop.
Initially, when she was 12, she performed in a small supermarket in her home town.
It officially started in 1992, when little 14 year-old Namie was in a pop girl group consisting of her and four classmates from her acting school, The Super Monkeys. They flourished with their initial single, "Mr. USA". Later, however, Namie broke away from the group in 1995, with her first single, "Body Feels Exit", produced by Tetsuya Komuro.
Now under the recording label of Avex Trax, she rose to the top with hit singles such as 'Chase the Chance', 'Don't Wanna Cry' as well as sell-out albums Sweet Nineteen Blues and Concentration 20. Then, in 1996, she won the Japan Record Awards Committee's Best Artist Prize. She also won the best single award at the 1997 Japan Record Awards. She launched a successful concert tour in the spring of 1997, followed by her performance with the "TK Pan-Pacific Tour 97".
Before we knew it, Namie was pregnant at the age of 19, having married Maruyama Masaharu, from the group TRF. Naturally, Namie couldn't juggle a singing career and a baby, so she dropped out for a one year break starting in January of 1998. Following the announcement of her one year leave, Namie released a new album titled "181920", a collection of her 12 most successful singles marking her career. Their son, Haruto, was born May 19th of that year.
As promised, Namie returned to the J pop scene in December of '98, with her new single, "I Have Never Seen". Following that was her single in March of 1999, "Respect the Power of Love".
Sadly, on the same day that "Respect the Power of Love" was released, her mother, Emiko Taira was murdered by her husband's brother at 10:45 am on March 17, 1999 in Okinawa, Japan. Kenji Taira, the attacker, later killed himself by means of poison.
Despite this tragic loss, Namie strived to remain in her musical career and to continue to make her fans happy. After two years, she released a new album on January 1, 2000, "GENIUS 2000". Singles follow in 2000, such as "Never End", and "Please Smile Again".
Namie is not known only for her singing talent, but her charisma as a dancer as well. All of her recent videos have her dancing, sometimes her backup dancers even being a remodeled version of the Super Monkeys--MAX. She's done several live tours and sponsored many products. Her most recent releases include the single, "Want me, want me".
