One of the most sucessful film franchises of all time, raking in 1.5 billion in ticket sales worldwide, and gathering enough critical accolades to decorate the statue of liberty. The story of a down and out boxer who rose to the top, captivated the hearts and imagination of millions. The reputation of the original seems to have been tarnished by the supposed "horrid" sequels. The sequels are far from horrible, except for 4 which still has it's moments, in fact some even equal the feel of the original. The Rocky series, is one of the most enduring of all time. Leaving us with such things as- The Rocky theme, Eye of the Tiger, Mr.T, other great music, and the invention of the chair in wrestling, just to name a few. The Rocky series isn't great just because of these things, it's great because of it's message- being able to rise to the occasion, beating the odds, and going the distance, which it seems all of us should be doing more of.
