Lyrics

The Key

Lyrics (work in progress)

Very simple really the link will take you to the lyrics or vocals of that track but they are currently unfinished.

Slash (/):-
This is likely to become a common site on the lyrics page. I use this when two lines of vocals are spoken at the same time so the reader knows which line is which.

Underline (_):-
Underlining will be used to reinforce the separation of overlapping vocals. For example on "This Is You, This Is Me" at certain points the vocals are split between "If you don't understand the words to this song" and "If you don't understand don't get me wrong" and this would appear as "If you don't understand the words to this song"/"If you don't understand don't get me wrong" on parts that don't run equally only the parts that overlap are underlined.
Hope I've explained this well.

brackets ( ):-
brackets appear on the lyrics page for one reason - interruption vocals. This is actually hard to explain so I won't bother hopefully you'll pick it up when you see it. If not I'll try and explain but only if someone asks by sending an e-mail.

Square brackets []:-
These are easier to explain I use them for lyric annotation like alternative possibilities (remember nothing on the site is written in stone - I want it to be disputed as that improves the accuracy of the site information) and my comments if necessary.

the gap sign (...):-
These are what make the lyric section really because they tell the reader when something is missing - if you can fill the gap then please e-mail and tell me (even if it's just a guess) so I have something to work with.
The signs have different meanings depending on where you see them I will try to explain everything as best I can.

... - If you see the gap sign on it's own it can mean either that there is a line (or lines) that I can not make out clearly that should be here. If it appears at the very bottom of the page on it's own line it means that the song ends on a instrumental fade out.

abc... - In this key abc represents a word or in this case part of a word. It is seen at the end of a song when the fade out cuts the word off. Like on the "Ladies Night" lyrics you might see "Come on let's all cel..." the "abrate" is missing so as to tell you that if you were listening to the actual track from that album you would not hear it that time through as the fade out would cut it off first.

abc ... - the final use this appears all over and it means that I am unable to hear the rest of the line (a variation would be ... abc - I can't make out the beginning). It also appears at the end and is usually in the form of abc ...... which means that I can not hear the closing line which is then cut off by the track fade out.

Numbering:-
Sometimes gaps will be numbered this means that the line (or passage) I can't make out appears again whenever the corresponding number does.
