Now this (which charted #24 R&B, 171 Pop) is when the problems arise not only do I only know one track that was released from this album but also the date contradictions I often come across can no longer be solved as easily as on the previous albums. On "Kool And The Gang" for example I found that the official site says that it was released November, 1969 and many other sites and sources support 1969 as the release date but the liner notes of the 1996 reissue says that it was released January, 1970 and four months after the original single. This contradiction would be hard to solve if it were not for the liner notes also mentioning the addition of "Let The Music Take Your Mind" on a second pressing of the album so now I see two dates and two pressings - hey problem solved but the single release date may now be wrong (April/November).
Next problem - the official site says that "Live At The Sex Machine" was released in May, 1970 and again many sources support this however the liner notes of the '96 reissue says it was released February, 1971 fortunately I also have liner notes saying the performance was recorded around May, 1970 again two dates plus two events equals problem solved.
Unfortunately I have three dates for this album the liner notes give album cut May 29, 1971 and released October, 1971, the official site has it released in January, 1972 at the moment I'm going to mess with those dates and get recorded May, 1971 - cut (I am assuming a difference between recorded and cut) October, 1971 - released January, 1972 but this is almost certainly wrong. If any of you know the correct dates please e-mail them as usual (but don't think you can just transpose the dates of this album and the compilation that came before it - I've seen the catalogue numbers it won't work).
As for the album it's self the only track I know that was released from it was N.T. - parts 1 and 2 made up both sides (It didn't chart). The album is - unlike it's predecessor - definitely not the actual recorded show chronologically and you don't need super sensitive hearing to realize that track 2 directly followed track 4 at the actual P.J.'s performance.
The best evidence that this is a great album is that it was reissued in 1999 due to major request and the full length version of "The Penguin" was added (again they didn't have room to include it before). The single didn't chart the B-side was "Lucky For Me".
Note: Since writing this I have found that the track "Let The Music Take Your Mind" was not released until June, 1970 another problem I can't solve.
