*Horns appears when I have no idea which horn is which. Unless I have good reason to believe I can identify any this is what will always appear.
#I am unable to tell if Ricky West's piano appears on this track. If not it can be assumed that he took this percussion role instead of "D.T." or "Spike" even though the liner notes do not mention Rick on percussion this album (they don't mention him on percussion next album either but he almost certainly is). If he does play piano he will be supporting the neighboring guitar (please note that there is no way I can tell which Guitar is Claydes and which is Woody and also that "D.T." or "Spike will then be on percussion leaving the other on horns. I tell you that I am not considering the possibility of mixing unless I have got good reason to believe otherwise. i.e. it actually appears necessary).

Here it is the opening track in the career of our favorite R&B "Super Band".
This was their first single and the opening track to the album of the same name (for obvious reasons).
Although the percussion and guitar duo opening does little to help the intro the music quality is not compromised and we still have a brilliant but at 2:56 (by the way the track listings read 2:57) suspiciously short track that is basically a template for most of the other tracks on the album (track 10 was added later remember) with clear instrumentation (especially guitar and percussion), and on/off horn blasts taking the lead and difficult to hear banter between gang members that puts a whole new meaning to the term backing vocals.
However it is these vocals that this site is mostly based on. This site is designed to provide as many vocals as I am able to hear clearly and gap signs (...) for vocals I can hear but can't put onto paper because they are unclear for some reason (too faint, language used, interference/distraction from elsewhere in track etc.)This is a hard task so when the lyrics do appear (below the respective track) it means I have done my best (unless "to be continued" appears) and only sudden revelation or reader support will get them changed.
Also the instrumentation (again as much as I can hear) will be listed at the top of the page. Since I am unable to tell the difference between one wind instrument and another this will cause the most problems. I also have difficulty telling Bongos from Congas and I'm completely hopeless with the rest of the drum and percussion section. So basically if you can help me complete my lyric and/or instrument sections when they are up please send an E-mail to me using the link on the front page
Oh and by the way I am pretty sure this track had eight parts. This is enough parts to fairly occupy all members of the band which why is I don't believe the instrumentation was mixed (although the backing vocals may have come later). It may have had nine but this doesn't seem necessary and so unlikely as I am almost sure that there are only two horns in the piece.

Lyrics (work in progress).
