Kool & The Gang, creators of a never ending supply of tracks resulting in an equally never ending supply of compilation LP's. Well OK no. This album was released in January, 1975 according to the official site (but I have observed that the months for '75 releases are identical to those of '74 so this or the "Kool Jazz" date or even both may be wrong) and as it has never been reissued I have no opposing dates and no track listing but now know it charted #21 R&B, 81 Pop.
I also know thanks to the "Billboard" website it contains in alphabetical order - "Funky Stuff", "Higher Plane", "Hollywood Swinging" and "Jungle Boogie" - thanks to Andy Hooten - apparently "Rated X" and thanks to an unknown "Soul Vibrations" and "Music Is The Message". When you think about it this isn't terribly surprising - what we basically see is Kool & The Gang's two R&B #1's and the two tracks that almost always go with the first #1 ("Rated X", Soul Vibrations" and "Music Is The Message" are considerably more surprising). Based on this it would be no long reach to assume that "Rhyme-Tyme People" also appears on this album and perhaps most releases from "Live At The Sex Machine" (it depends how far back the contents span).

Now continue to Spirit Of The Boogie.
