Kool & The Gang's second compilation was released on mail order through "Wild And Peaceful" (and remember that was released September, 1973) album inserts according to the 1997 "reissue" liner notes but fortunately sales went well and the album appeared in stores in January, 1974 (date from official site) actually this thinking could also solve a few other date problems. It reached #26 R&B, 187 Pop.
If you haven't got the 1997 "reissue" of this then you will probably be wondering why I don't know the track listing when you have seen it at many internet music merchants, well I'll tell you.
Of the fourteen tracks included on "Kool Jazz '97" (as I will now call it) only half of them were included on this and five of the other seven had yet to be written let alone recorded and of the two remaining "Blowin' With The Wind" was replaced with it's previously unreleased longer version (not that I'm complaining) and Wild And Peaceful obviously wouldn't be on it because it was originally on the album you had to purchase to obtain "Kool Jazz" in the first place.
The original album also contained "Wild Is Love" which was removed from the reissue because it should never have been put on in the first place (it isn't jazz apparently) and so they could add the new stuff.
You may observe when I list the contents of this LP that there is nothing from LP 2 and since I'm terrible with styles I don't know if this because it doesn't contain any jazz tracks or if the band just didn't use them.
Finally you may be wondering why I can't work out what the track listing is if I know the contents well the answer to that is that I have been given no reason to believe that the tracks on this album were in chronological order just because the reissue ones were and if I want to apply the tidy LP principle I have every reason to believe they weren't.
On the discography page there are three different track listing that I have one source for and only one can be correct and I have yet to confirm which.
Now in alphabetical order here are the tracks on "Kool Jazz" - "Blowin' With The Wind", "Breeze & Soul", "Dujii", I Remember John W. Coltrane", "Lucky For Me", North, East, South, West", "Sea Of Tranquility", "Sombrero Sam", "Wild Is Love" (probably).

Now continue to Light Of Worlds.
