Nugget
"Puppy" Nugget bonded with the ruling cat of the house
when he came to live with us in 1991.
He loves cats...and does not love other dogs...he thinks he's a cat.
Maybe he is a cat, in spirit,
because felines seem to warm up to him very quickly!
When we were boating, Nugget loved to dive into
the river ...
(dogs don't care how brown the water is)!
He also loves Sara Lee pound cake.
He can smell the cake even if a person is trying to hide,
and sneak a slice at the other end of the house.
Nugget Loves His Toys...
This doggie is very possessive and protective of his toys...
woe to the kitty that dares to touch one of them!
Sometimes he brings all of his toys
out to the middle of the family room floor. And guards them!
At Christmas...

...he anxiously awaits his present
and takes it to his "lair" while he opens it.
He can jump very high.
Especially if someone not nice snatches a toy and holds it up in the air.
He also really, really likes to "GO OUTSIDE"

One day Nugget broke away from his leash and took off.
(You might think he had seen a giant pound cake somewhere in the distance).
About five minutes later he had become...
the Canine Road Runner!
Two huge German Shepherds and a Doberman were right on his tail.
No one knows where those dogs came from or to whom they belonged.
But miraculously, Nugget pumped those little legs and made it to the door just in time!
Inside the safety of the sliding glass door, Nugget turned around and pompously barked his "GET OFF MY PROPERTY" command.
The growling and snarling big dogs just looked at him for a beat or two,
and finally sauntered off. For the rest of that day,
Nugget walked haughtily around the house believing he was
Lassie and Rin Tin Tin and Benji and Snoopy... AND Cujo.
