Pork Chops Indonesian

6 (1-in) loin pork chops

Salt and pepper to taste

3 Tbsps shortening or oil

1 (16-oz) can sliced peaches

2 Tbsps brown sugar

1 Tbsp grated onion

2 Tbsps soy sauce

1 tsp ginger

⅛ tsp dry mustard

⅛ tsp garlic powder

1 large bell pepper

Season chops with salt and pepper.� Melt shortening in large skillet; brown chops on both sides, and remove from heat.� Drain all but 2 Tbsps of fat from skillet.� Drain peaches, reserve syrup.� Blend syrup, sugar, onion, soy sauce, ginger, mustard, and garlic powder.� Pour over chops.� Cover and simmer for 30 mins.� Meanwhile, cut bell pepper into slivers.� Add with peach slices to chops.� Simmer 5 mins longer.� Serve over rice.
