Paint Box Cookies

1 cup margarine or butter, softened
1½ cups granulated sugar
¼ cup liquid honey
2 tsps. vanilla
2 large eggs, fork-beaten
1 tbsp. baking soda
1½ tbsps. hot water
4½ cups all-purpose flour
liquid or paste food coloring

Cream margarine, sugar and honey togther in large bowl. Stir in vanilla and eggs until well mixed.
Combine baking soda and water in small dish. Stir in margarine mixture.
Gradually add flour, mixing well after each addition, until dough is smooth. Divide into 4 or 5 portions. Add a few drops of food colouring into each portion, colouring each differently. Gently knead until colouring is evenly distributed. Divide each portion in half. Roll out each portion into ropes. Lay several ropes on top of each other. Twist gently into 1 rops. Roll out on lighly floured surface. Cut out with various cookie cutter. Place cookies on greased baking sheets, 1-in. apart. Bake in 350*F oven for 8 to 10 mins. until cookies are set. :et cool before removing to rack.
