¾ cup vegetable shortening
¾ cup granulated sugar
4 large egg yolks
1 cup all-purpose flour
granulated sugar for flattening
3oz. Semisweet chocolate, chopped

In a large bowl, cream the vegetable shortening & sugar. Beat in the egg yolks. Gradually blend in the flour. Cover & chill for 2 hrs.
Preheat the oven to 350*.
Drop the dough by spoonfuls 2½-in apart on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten with a glass dipped in water & then in granulated sugar.
Bake for 8-10min, until lightly colored. Transfer to wire racks to cool.
Melt the chocolate in a doible boiler at low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from the heat. Spread a thin layer of chocolate over the bottoms of the cool cookies & let cool until set.
