Homemade Vanilla Extract

4 or 5 vanilla pods

2 cups brandy or vodka

.

Cut vanilla beans lengthwise in half and put them in a screw-top jar with 2 cups of alcohol. Cover tightly and let stand for 2 weeks or longer to achieve a full vanilla flavor. Transfer into decorative glass containers.
