5 cups all-purpose flour
2 Tsps. baking powder
1 Tsp. baking soda
1 cup vegetable shortening
2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 Tsp. vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 350*. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets.
Combine the flour, baking powder, & baking soda.
In a large bowl, cream the vegetable shortening & sugar. Beat in the eggs 1 at a time. Beat in the milk & vanilla extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
Drop the dough by spoonfuls 1�-inch apart onto the prepared baking sheets.
Bake for 8-10mins, until lightly colored. Transfer to wire racks to cool.
