Budgies enjoy baths. To give them baths you can:
Gently mist them with a plant sprayer (make such the spayer held nothing but water) and let the mist float down onto the bird. Some budgie will prefer a saucer filled with water. Kinda like a bird bath that some people have in their backyards. The budgie will splash around in the water. (it's kinda fun to watch)
Bathing helps keep the feathers in good condition, which will help keep the bird healthy. Be sure that your bird is kept out of drafts while being dried. You can either cover the cage with a light towel or you can teach it to accept being GENTLY blow-dried. Birds need baths to look their best and reduce normal body odor. |
