Chapter 10

Well, the police meeting seemed to go alright.  But Im still trying to figure out why she was giving me strange looks.  Its over and done with anyway.  In the past.  Or is it?  Oh, Joey, dear, youre just being silly.  Jens sitting on the bed next to me talking about a magazine article.  Its about  how Haley Joel Osment is this hot, new actor making a comeback in films after five years of not hearing from him.  Like I really care.  I rather think about Dr. Witter playing Superman.  Well, since he did save me, its only fair.  Hell be in those tight blue tights and that tight red speedo- Joey.  You there Joey?  Damn her!

Yeah, Jen, Im here.  I guess Ive had one too many hits on the head.  Sorry.  What were you saying again?  I look at her with a dazed look, waiting for her to answer.

I was just saying that Drue and I are going to leave to get some dinner and go home to sleep.  Dont worry well be back tomorrow.  Goody! I think sarcastically.  Sorry, Jen, Im just irritable.

Oh, okay. I smile up at her.  Have fun enjoying youre edible food, and sleep comfortably in a nice bed.  I throw out at her to say how much I envy her right now.

Dont worry Jo, I will. She smirks at me as she turns around. Come along Drue, and dont forget to say good bye to Joey.

Good bye to Joey. he said with a laugh. See you tomorrow and feel better.

Thanks Drue.  I wink at him. See you both tomorrow.  I rest back on the bed and relax, but I really want to go for a walk.  Maybe Ill bother Dr. Witter.

Hey, Jo, Bessie said as she came into my room, Im going to leave now because visiting hours are almost over, plus Im staying with Drue and Jen.  See you tomorrow, sis.

You too.  I say as she kisses me on the forehead and turns to leave.  Just as she walks out the door, Dr. Witter comes in looking the same tablet again without even looking up.  Dr. Witter, I say.  He looks up startled, not expecting me to say anything. Do you think you could take me for a walk, my legs are getting a little restless.

Sure thing, Ms. Potter. He walks over to me with a smile and I smile back.  I push my covers back as he puts his hands out for me to take hold of.  God, those hands.  I wonder if that means- stop it right now.  I swing my legs down, Im wearing a pair of flannels, silently thanking Jen for bringing me clothes.  I take his hands and he pulls me off the bed.

He pulls a little to hard and I crash into him lightly sending him stumbling back a step or two.  You okay? he asks me.  I dont respond just yet.  Im too busy leaning against him and staring into his blue eyes without a care in the world.  Well, I do have one think on my mind, if you know what I mean.  He just stares back at me and we just stand there, for what seems like forever, ending only amounting to a few seconds.  He repeats himself, only his voice is slightly deeper, Arare you okay?

I look up into his eyes and they darken, God, theyre beautiful. Oh, yeah, just got up a little too fast back there. I laugh a little to lighten the mood.  Are you okay?  I ask him.

Peachy, saw we try that walk now? he asks me while trying to remove the nasty little thoughts from his head.  I can tell he wants me by just looking in his eyes.  I simply answer, Yeah, lets do that.  I smile as I grab onto his right arm as we slowly head towards the door.  I knew it!  since the minute I saw him, I knew he was muscular under his clothes!  Is it bad that I like the feeling of his touch?  I wonder as we make a left out of the door, down the corridor.

**********

Hey, Ben.  The chicken has flown the coupe.  I repeat, the chicken has flown the coupe.  Time for plan B.  Get your ass over here with the stuff.  And hurry.  Julie whispers in to a radio while sitting outside Joeys hospital room.
