| Ugh! -.-; I simply can not have a Lost Universe site without having a place to rant about the most horrible aspect of LU that there is... ...*Thunderclap!* Its DUB!!! Congratulations, ADV -- you've managed to create the worst dub that I've ever seen or heard of! >< I mean, what were you people thinking when you wrote the dub script -- or hired the voice actors, for that matter? Were you trying to be funny? Because that's all you managed to do -- degrade a very groovy anime into a sickening parody of itself. Congrats. You ruined a decent anime. I'll admit that most dubs are bad -- but being pretty fluent in Japanese, it's no problem for me to buy raw Japanese or subtitled tapes. However, the dub of LU seems to have been done purposely bad -- the script was completely altered, important plot points were taken out, nearly every line was completely and needlessly changed, character personalities were disgustingly altered, and the voices were just plain painful! Ah, yes... the voices... let's take a closer look at those, shall we...? |

| Kain Blueriver: Ugh! He sounds like... like... Luke Skywalker, by gawd! ><; Forget Souichiro's awesome performance of Kain; Steve Metz instead offers us a whiney little boy who hasn't yet reached puberty... and who needs some serious attention for all the strange dog-like whines he emits randomly. I cringe every time he "screams"... it sounds like Barney the Dinosaur making those little happy dinosaur squeals... it's just... awful... ._. ...AND SINCE WHEN, MAY I ASK, DOES KAIN SAY THINGS LIKE "CRIPIES"!!!??? |

| Millenium Feria Nocturne: I have to admit, I didn't like her Japanese voice all that much, but it puts her dub voice to shame! x.x; Millie just sounds like... someone scratching their nails down a chalkboard... for an entire episode... episode after episode... just a constant squealy whine... erg....x.x; |
| Canal Vorufied: Quite possibly dubbed worse than Kain, Canal talks in the same tone no matter WHAT she's saying... and that "tone" happens to be a high-pitched yet nonchalant SQUEAL that sort of makes you want Millie to say her lines, instead! The most hilarious part of the dub is when Canal says "Gorun Nova"... I swear to gawd, just listen to it! ...If you have a strong stomach, that is. |
| Rail Claymore: His voice isn't the worst, although his accent can be rather amusing. His confident, holier-than-thou attitude is captured pretty well... but damn, he has some hilarious lines! Exclamations of "Crickey!", "Good grief!", and "Ta-ta, porkchop!" had me rolling around in guilty hysterics...x.x; |
| Yami o Makumono: ...Oh gawd... they've turned him into... *dundundun...* ...an EVIL HICK! That's right, folks! Yami-kun can be found spouting lines such as "Sonny," and "Did yahr granny teach ya' that?" It's impossible to take him seriously as a villain...x.x; Then again, nothing in the dub is to be taken very seriously, anyway... Oh, yes, and what's he called? His name ranges from "THAT man" to "The EVIL one" to "Theonewhospreadsdarknessthoughouttheuniverse!" x.x; Oiiiii.... |

| Nina Mercury: Er... excuse me... in the dub, her name is changed to "Nina Sweetwater." How sickeningly cute. x.o; Anyway, her voice is too... gawd, I can't describe it. It's not ditzy enough, I guess? She sounds like a middle-aged woman who hasn't got a clue what's going on, rather than a teenager who hasn't got a clue what's going on. She also has a strange quirk of talking to herself... |
| Goren-Oh: ...His name is changed to "Roy Glenn" for some reason... oh... and... x.x; get accustomed to hearing strange, indecipherable noises such as "Afgharzalsls..." and "Jdjfghjssshhhha?" |
| Karii: o.o; Okay, she frightens me in the dub! Talk about an elderly, desperate, dominatrix! x.x; Yipe! With lines such as, "You're here, I'm here, I have my whip...," you have to wonder about the people who wrote the dub script... >.> |
