"Role-playing is more than simple dice rolling, GiCE is more than simple dice roller" -------- CONTENTS -------- Requirements Installation Directions Thanks Contacting me ------------ REQUIREMENTS ------------ Microsoft Windows 95/98, Windows NT 4.0 SP3 or Windows 2000. 8 Mb of memory recommended. 1 Mb of disk space. ------------ INSTALLATION ------------ Just run original self-extracting archive and follow its prompts. ---------- DIRECTIONS ---------- * Main window automaticly "sticks" to borders and corners of the desktop while moving nearby. * Size and position of all windows are preserved upon close of the application. * Right-clicking any button of main window makes corresponding opened window rise above all others. * Right-clicking any spin edit brings popup menu with quick values. * Clicking any button of main window (or pressing corresponding keys) shows following windows: ® Menu (F1, Alt) - main menu: ® Vertical window - toggles vertical orientation of main window. o Show icons - toggles icons of main buttons. o Show captions - toggles captions of main buttons. ® Quick mode - toggles special roll mode: results of all rolls, checks, etc. are displayed in separate window after closing original window. ® Preferences... - calls color selection dialog for caption of main window and roll results. Colors are preserved upon close of the application. ® Edit 'dice+adds'... - calls 'dice+adds' rolls editor window. ® Edit modifiers... - calls modifiers editor window. o Save layout... - saves size and position of all windows in specified file on disk. o Load layout... - restores size and position of all windows from specified file on disk. Layout filename may be alternatively specified in command line to restore size and position of all windows upon starting the application. All layout files (*.glt) which are found at startup in same folder as GiCE will be added below this menu item. o Save values... - saves values of all controls in specified file on disk. o Load values... - restores values of all controls from specified file on disk. All values files (*.gvs) which are found at startup in same folder as GiCE will be added below this menu item. ® Cascade - cascades all opened windows from top left corner of desktop. o Show all - opens all windows. ® Hide all - closes all opened windows. ® About... - shows version numbers of GiCE itself and its resource DLL. ® Exit - closes GiCE. ® Roll (F2) - press the button with desired number of die icons to roll 1d, 2d ¨ 3d. ® Check (F3) - set slider at desired skill level, attribute level, sense roll level, etc., then press the button with 3 dice icon to make a check. ® Contest (F4) - set slider at desired skill level, attribute level, sense roll level, etc. set desired contest type with Quick Contest checkbox, then press the button with 3 dice icon to make a contest. Normalize Skills checkbox toggles skill levels normalization: If both skills are greater than 14, the same number will be subtracted from both skills to set greater skill to 14. ® Other (F5) - select desired item from the list and press the button with 4 dice icon (or [double-]click item from the list) to roll 'dice+adds'. Clicking the button with pencil and die icon calls 'dice+adds' rolls editor window. Also you can make the roll by entering 'dice' and 'adds' in corresponding controls and pressing the button marked with 'd+' . ® Attack (F6) - set hit location, target size, sum of its speed and range, then press the button with 4 dice icon to make an attack roll. Clicking the button with humanoid silhouette rolls random hit location. Clicking the button with all-ones die icon rolls critical hit. Clicking the button with all-sixes die icon rolls critical miss. Clicking the button with chain icon toogles random hit location mode. Clicking the button with pencil and die icon calls 'dice+adds' rolls editor window. ® Defence (F7) - set defender's position, PD of his shield and armor, his active defence (dodge, parry, or block) level with corresponding controls, then press the button with 3 dice icon to make a defence roll. Clicking the button with chain icon toogles automatic defence roll after successful (but not critical!) hit. ® Damage (F8) - set hit location, damage type, DR of attacked location, opponent's HT with corresponding controls, then select desired item from the 'dice+adds' list and press the button with 3 dice icon (or [double-] click item from the list) to make a damage roll. Clicking the button with chain icon toogles automatic synchronization of hit location with Attack window. Clicking the button with pencil and die icon calls 'dice+adds' rolls editor window. ® Reaction (F9) - set desired adjustment with the spin edit, then press the button to make a reaction roll. ® Modifiers (F10) - check desired attack and defence modifiers from the list.
