Thrown to the Wolves 6
Katsuya looked down at his milkshake and frowned, going over what Kaiba had just told him. He supposed he could believe that Kaiba couldn't punch someone in a room filled with reporters, and Otogi *was* his friend, so... He sighed and looked out at the sky outside, noticing that the formerly sunny day had become grey and overcast as clouds drifted over Domino, filled with rain.
"Even if that is the truth," he murmured, not meeting Kaiba's eyes, "Y'know this'd never work."
Kaiba felt a trickle of ice through his heart and was about to try and convince Katsuya otherwise when the blonde continued with what he was saying, still not looking up.
"I really like you. I wish I didn't, 'cause you can be a real bastard sometimes, but I do."
"Then why?" Kaiba asked, wishing Katsuya knew how much he loved him.
"'Cause I can't be what you want. I can't be like Otogi and those guys at the party, I ain't rich and famous and I don't wanna go to operas and drink champagne and live like you guys. I ain't ashamed of not being like you, but your friends ain't going to accept me and I'm not changing who I am for anyone, even you. I got everything just how I want it, I got a room, a job, a rusty old motorbike that don't hardly work, a bunch of rock music and not one single suit in my whole closet. I don't go to the theatre or parties like you guys, I hang out in a bar with my friends and play darts, ride my bike too fast, play my music too loud, drink, swear and get into fights. I like it like that, and I'm not going to be turning into someone like Otogi anytime soon." Katsuya explained, finally looking up at Kaiba.
Seto gave an almost relieved little laugh and picked up his coffee, taking a long sip then looking right at Katsuya, who looked confused.
"You know, all those things are what I like about you. I never want you to change, I like you just the way you are. That party was a mistake; I should never have invited you there. But I swear, if you give me one more chance I'll make it up to you and I'll never make you do anything you don't want." Seto promised, the usual coldness gone from his eyes as he watched for Katsuya's reaction.
Katsuya stared at Kaiba, searching his eyes, and finally gave a little grin, not sure he was doing the right thing but deciding that one last chance wouldn't hurt.
"Ok... I guess we can try again. But I ain't going to no more parties, and if I see Otogi again I'm gonna deck him myself." The blonde said, clenching his fist in emphasis.
Kaiba smirked, relief flooding through him.
"Good. Now I can take you to the movies like I should have done in the first place."
"Really?" Katsuya perked up a bit, his eyes lighting up. That sounded more like his sort of thing! "What are we seeing?"
"Whatever you like." Kaiba replied easily, finishing off his coffee.
"Are there any action movies on?" Katuysa looked excited, he hadn't been to the movies for a while, and popcorn was easily number one on his favourite foods list.
"If there aren't I'll just rent out the cinema and make them play one." Kaiba shrugged, and Katsuya blinked at him for a moment before bursting out laughing.
"I keep forgetting that you actually *do* stuff like that." the blonde grinned, "But hey, whatever's on is fine with me."
Kaiba just nodded his head slightly, a smirk on his lips.

Madly, horribly short, but this bit didn't really fit with the next part so it had to be a chapter on its own.
