Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh. Warnings: More angst-romance stuff... Author: Koneko Shido A/N: I have no idea if Honda has an older brother or not, but I needed him to own a bar, so... yeah. For the purpose of this fic, Honda is growing a new family member. Okay, on with the fic!! Thrown to the Wolves 4 Katsuya woke with a start and panicked a little, ripping off his sheets and sitting up, cold sweat drenching his body. He stared wildly at one of the posters on his wall in front of him for a few seconds until he'd calmed down, remembering where he was as the dream faded away from his memory. All he could remember was that Kaiba had been choking him, and it had been one of the most lucid dreams he'd ever had. Muttering something obscene about a certain blue-eyed executive jerk, Katsuya rubbed the sleep from his eyes and stretched, getting out of bed to take a shower and get dressed. He had to meet Yugi and everyone, and he was already running late. Then again, he was late for pretty much everything, so they would probably be expecting that. Drying off the water from his quick shower, Katsuya yanked on some worn jeans and a Placebo t-shirt with a big, red X on it, slipping on his shoes and grabbing his bag. He took a quick glance at the clock and stuck his tongue out at it childishly, grinning and running out of the room. His father was still asleep on the sofa so he said goodbye anyway and bounded out the door in a hurry, clicking it closed after him. * * * Just as Katsuya was leaving he noticed a dark green car pull up outside his house. Walking backwards down the street he watched, frowning when his least favourite person in the world got out of the car and strode up to his door, knocking on it. Kaiba couldn't see Katsuya, who was walking away from him, so the blonde smirked at having just missed him and ran off towards Honda's brother's bar. Damn that CEO jerk, was there nothing Katsuya could hide from the bastard?! His phone number, his address... Just as long as Kaiba didn't find the bar, that was all that mattered at the moment. He sure as hell wasn't going to be a pet for some rich CEO who wouldn't even stand up for him in front of Otogi. Katsuya reached the bar after a few minutes of jogging to find his friends already there, sitting around their regular table in a corner of the large, almost empty grey brick underground room. There were a few more tables scattered around, a dartboard on the wall and a pool table opposite the bar, which was unattended at the moment. No doubt Honda's brother was on the phone to his girlfriend around the back, so he'd be there for hours. That girl could talk for her country. "Hey, Jou!" Yugi waved, pulling out a chair for the blonde, who grinned and sat down, stealing Honda's drink and taking a gulp of it. "How goes it?" Malik asked, sitting on Marik's lap watching Bakura and Ryou playing darts across the room. Ryou was losing, unsurprisingly, due to Bakura's prowess with sharp objects. The kleptomaniac was laughing at his younger lover, since Ryou was having trouble even hitting the dartboard. That might have had something to do with the fact that Bakura was tickling him, but the moment they noticed Katsuya sitting at the table they ended their rather pointless game and walked over anyway. "Been better," Katsuya muttered, thinking of Kaiba. "Oh? What happened? Did your date not go well?" Ryou asked, shooing Honda off to fetch Katsuya a drink. "Nah, not really..." Katsuya grinned sheepishly. Ryou and Yugi looked expectant, so he decided to go ahead and tell them the whole thing anyway. "I went to the stupid party, and I even behaved myself!" He insisted, "Then some guy called Otogi came up and called me a dog, and Kaiba just stood there, didn't say a damned thing." "Oh, my," Ryou looked appalled. "What did you do?" "I would have burnt the place down," Malik mentioned, wearing a tight shirt that had the words 'Cute but Psycho' scrawled in pink on the front. Marik agreed. "I would have poisoned them all, *then* burnt the place down." Bakura said. He was wearing a shirt with a picture of a plate of fish and chips on it, and the words 'I Found Nemo' on the back. "I left." Katsuya muttered. "Should have slashed his tyres." "We can always go back and do it," Honda grinned, coming over with Katsuya's drink and handing it to him. "No way," Katsuya snorted, "I'm not going near that jerk ever again. He's stalking me now and everything!" "Want me to kill him for you?" Marik asked hopefully. "What do you mean stalking?" Yami asked, frowning. That guy had two expressions, 'sexy' and 'angry'. He could do them both at once, too. "I mean, last night he called me and I ended up pulling the cord out of the wall. And this morning he turned up at my house as I was walking down the road on my way here. I don't think he saw me, though." Katsuya glared at his beer, knowing what everyone was going to say before they said it. Ryou and Yugi would try to stick up for Kaiba, Marik, Malik and Bakura would want to murder him, and Yami and Honda would just want to go over there and beat the crap out of him. Not that they could. Well, maybe Yami could. "Maybe he wants to say sorry?" Yugi asked quietly, blinking his big, innocent eyes. "Don't care, I don't ever want to see him again." Katsuya muttered. "Well good, anyone who won't defend you is bad news." Ryou said, surprising Katsuya. "Hey, I thought you were gonna stick up for him and tell me I should hear him out?" The blonde asked, confused. "Normally I would, but if he won't stick up for you in front of someone who just wanted to hurt your feelings, I think you can do better." Ryou told Katsuya, folding his arms firmly. "You been hanging around Bakura too long." Katsuya grinned. "But you're right, I don't want anything to do with him. Anyway, let's change the subject, just talking about him makes me want to hit stuff. So how about a game of pool?" * * * Katsuya felt better after a few more drinks, a duel with Yami and a doubles game of pool with him and Honda against Ryou and Bakura. Oddly enough, it turned out Ryou was scarily good at pool and beat them all hands down. He'd ended up playing darts with Honda and winning while Bakura and Yami managed to get Ryou and Yugi drunk enough to fool around under the table. Marik and Malik were fooling around *on top* of the table, and then on the floor, and then on the pool table, the bar, and in a chair. Honda was obsessing over Katsuya's sister Shizuka, and Katsuya spent the rest of the morning and into the afternoon telling him to just go ahead and ask her out, if he liked her so much. At about three in the afternoon they all agreed to call it a day and went their separate ways, with Katsuya walking along in the afternoon sun, feeling better about everything after seeing his friends. It had turned out to be a hot day, so he walked along the road singing to himself. He'd had a few drinks, but nowhere near enough to get him drunk. Just as he rounded the corner of the street he lived on, he caught sight of something that instantly bought back his bad mood. Kaiba was still there, sitting in his car reading a book outside Katsuya's house. Damn him to hell!! Why couldn't he just give it up, already?! Trying not to be noticed, Katsuya snuck past the car and up to his front door, pulling out his keys as quietly as possible. * * * Kaiba looked up from his book as he heard the sound of keys jangling and caught sight of Katsuya trying to unlock the door to his house. Putting his book down, he got out of the car and strode over, admiring Katsuya's cute, scruffy clothes. "Katsuya, may I talk with you?" He asked, only to be ignored. Katsuya just continued trying to find the right key amongst all the ones he held, his body tense. "Please?" Kaiba tried again, his hand on Katsuya's shoulder. "What the hell do you want? And why are you keeping this up?" Katsuya growled, finally turning to face the person he'd been trying to forget about all damn day. Kaiba was wearing black jeans and a shirt to match, the clothes hugging his figure in all the right places. No matter how physically attractive Kaiba was, Katsuya thought, he was still a total jerk. "I want to explain about what happened at the party. Will you let me take you out for dinner?" Kaiba asked, though he wasn't exactly used to asking for what he wanted, He was used to demanding it. Katsuya thought it over for a moment, frowning. "No." He finally said, growling. "I don't like fancy restaurants." "You can choose the place," Kaiba promised, feeling a stab of pain through his heart at Katsuya's refusal. If only he'd let him explain... "I just want to talk." Katsuya looked suspicious for a moment then gave in, his stomach always being his weak spot. "Fine," he agreed grudgingly, "but you're paying." TBC Short... Meh.
