A/N: This won't make a whole lot of sense unless you read the notes first. I actually have most of this planned out, so I'll get writing on the rest If this goes down well. And the chapter names are runes, BTW. *shrug* A Trick of the Light Part One - Hagalaz. Balder, god of light, sat silently watching the golden leaves swirl in the air as they fell from the trees, thinking things he knew he should not have been thinking. "What pains you, Balder? You have been so very quiet of late, it is not like you." Asked Hod, who was sat next to his brother on the bank of a small stream. Hod could not see, but he was content to listen to the sounds of the water running and the birds singing. In his opinion one should not spend their time pining for that which they could not have, rather they should enjoy the things they already had. He heard Balder sigh and turned his sightless blue eyes in his brother's direction. "There is something I desire..." Balder murmured, looking up at the trees. "Oh?" Hod questioned, feeling the lush grass soft beneath the palms of his hands and smiling slightly. Life in Asgard was good, even without his sight he could feel the beauty of the place. Everything was perfect, except that he had the strange feeling of trouble brewing on the horizon. "It does not matter. Come, let us go home, it grows late." Balder said, dismissing the question and standing up, offering a hand to help Hod, who took it but remained on the ground, holding it a moment. "As you wish, but remember; that which we do, good or bad, will always come back to us. Be careful, my brother, I feel a storm brewing." Hod said softly, then allowed Balder to help him to his feet. "Do not worry yourself, Hod. Nothing is going to happen that I cannot handle, I assure you." Balder smiled, even though Hod could not see it. "Then I trust you not to do anything foolish." Hod laughed softly, though the uneasiness in his heart still remained like a dark shadow. * * * Balder perched, unnoticed on a ledge of rock above the lake at Frannag's falls, watching the one thing he desired bathing in the crystal clear water. Loki, god of tricks, was the most beautiful creature Balder could imagine. The pretty little god was washing his waist-length, pure white hair in the falls, his crimson eyes closed in pleasure as he enjoyed himself, running his fingers through the shaggy lengths of his white locks and sighing softly. It was so nice to be clean after playing in the woods all day and trying not to get caught by Thor, who he revelled in tormenting as much as possible. Balder watched with narrowed, lust-filled blue eyes, running them up the slender curves of Loki's naked body, watching the droplets of water trickle seductively down his soft skin. He wanted Loki more than anything, those beautiful red eyes haunted his dreams and his fingers ached to touch that perfect, milky white skin. But the words Hod had spoken to him kept coming back to warn him... Shaking his head, Balder stood up and made to leave, but in the process dislodged a few pebbles from their places on the ledge and alerted Loki to his presence. The little deity looked up sharply, bright eyes blinking as they settled on Balder, who turned with a swirl of white robes to look down at him once again. "Balder? Is that you?" Loki asked innocently, standing in the waist-high water and shivering in the slight breeze. "It is." Balder replied, vanishing from the ledge and reappearing behind Loki on the bank. "What brings you this far from Asgard?" At hearing Balder behind him Loki turned, something in the god of light's voice making him feel uneasy. "Thor is angered at me once again, I thought it best to lay low in Midgard for a while. And you? Why are you here, Balder?" Loki asked, stepping out of the water and up onto the bank, looking around for his clothes. "There was something I wanted." Balder murmured, stepping closer and smirking down at the smaller god, who looked a little afraid. "What?" Loki asked, not liking the look in Balder's blue eyes. Balder laughed softly and vanished again, reappearing right in front of Loki and grasping his delicate chin, forcing his head up and looking down into his wide, frightened eyes. "You." Balder hissed, then grabbed both of Loki's slender wrists in one hand and leant down to kiss him savagely. Loki gasped into the kiss, his heart beating so fast he thought it might burst in his chest. It took him a few moments to regain his senses, but he came back to himself as Balder's tongue forced its way into his mouth. Struggling wildly, Loki managed to break free from Balder's grip and fall back onto the grass, gasping. "What are you doing!?" Loki cried, trying to scramble away. Balder had other ideas, though, and he knelt down, grabbing Loki's ankles and pulling the smaller deity back then crawling forward to straddle his hips. The god of light grasped Loki's wrists once again, pinning them above his head, and stared down into the little god's terrified crimson eyes. "You are going nowhere. I have waited too long for this." Balder hissed, kissing Loki again, forcing his tongue into Loki's mouth and enjoying the frantic struggling of the little creature beneath him. "No! Get off me, let me go!" Loki cried, gasping when Balder, growing tired of the resistance, struck him hard across the cheek. "Be still!" The god of light snarled, hitting Loki again and again until he lay still, gasping in pain and tasting his own blood in his mouth. "Balder," Loki gasped as he watched the God of Light strip, frozen, "Please don't do this to me!" Balder just laughed, throwing his clothes off to one side and moving to straddle Loki's slender hips. "I can't help it, I've waited for so long and now I have you here beneath me, do you really think that I will stop?" Balder asked, leaning down to lick his way along the soft, pale skin of Loki's throat. "You should be flattered, I have never wanted anything as much as I desire you." The God of Light added, sinking his teeth into the perfect skin between Loki's neck and shoulder. "Ahh! No, please! B-Balder, you can't!" Loki pleaded, trying to push the older deity away from him. "Your father-" "Hah!" Balder snarled, backhanding Loki so hard across the face that the little god's head snapped to the side with the force of the blow and he lay still, stunned. "What will you tell him? That I raped you? Do you really think that the great Odin, king of the gods, will take the word of a lying little whore like you over his own son?" Balder hissed, taking advantage of Loki's stunned state to throw the little deity over to lie on his trembling chest and roughly yank his slender thighs apart. "Please, n-no..." Loki moaned dizzily, his eyes half-lidded as he fought back the waves of nausea and darkness that punctuated the terror gripping his heart. "No? Why not? Who is there to stop me? Thor, perhaps? Or Freya? No. Nobody cares about you except me, Loki." Balder growled, lifting Loki's hips up from the ground and using his knee to spread the white-haired young man's thighs further apart. Through his confused daze Loki felt himself being moved, but he could no longer summon the energy to struggle. There was a brief warning of what was to come when Balder's strong hands latched firmly onto Loki's waist and the snowy-haired god felt the light deity's arousal rubbing up against him, searching. "Ohh, please don't..." Loki managed to gasp breathlessly, a moment before Balder thrust unmercifully into him, tearing at his insides and earning a ragged scream of pain. Balder gave a groan of pleasure, watching Loki's petit body go completely limp beneath him once the smaller deity's scream had died to sobbed whimpers. Not giving him any time to adjust to having Balder suddenly buried so deep within his trembling body, the God of Light tightened his hold on Loki's hips and began to thrust in and out, throwing his head back to moan in ecstasy, the beads and feathers woven into his dark blonde hair clicking against each other as he moved. Loki gave a choked cry, never having felt such searing pain before in his life. Added to the agony throbbing through him from the beating Balder had given him it was all too much. With a final moan of pain, Loki gladly surrendered to the shadows haunting the edges of his vision and let himself slip into the darkness, passing out. TBC That was a short chapter, but the first ones of my fics always are. Hopefully the rest will be longer. And this was really mostly just a prologue for the rest of the story. Liked it?
