Full of musical instruments in my house. Why?
WAR FOR SOLO IN "LA REINE DE SABA"

Something interesting happened in our band last Friday. The war for solo. This is a bit long story.

Long Story of the War for Solo in "La Reine de Saba": Yow's clarinet took away my piano solo part in B-melody of "Saba" last Friday. Chel said, "He wants to stand firm not to give away B-melody solo". It has been quite often that Yow did his solo in other's solo parts. But it was OK while other parts, such as piano and steel guitar, were played by novices. When these novices get better in playing he should share solo parts with others according to Chel's advices. Things change. It is what this world is. So is our band.

After 2 month leave we've got a completely new map of the band. Drummer's gone. Two others went active outside this band. But Chel is back, which means that we can make music again.

The band is now improving its rhythm feelings, which seems becoming much better. So far music making was relatively free, e.i., Chel has let us do as we feel like. Just according to lead sheets we played, making some improvements. And this stance seems to go ahead unchanged. If some changes, it might be that we feel higher goals more clearly than ever.

Samba Story: We have already played "Saba" many times, recently in Samba, whose rhythm Chel regarded as most difficult for us but worth trying for studying. This can be another long story.

Primarily Yow made its note and gave us to play, using FINALE, a PC application for music composers. The note was in classic style. At first we played it as the note is. Later Chel has let us try it in Samba when he taught me piano arpeggio in Samba. First performance of "Saba" at Peking Hall was like that of Chindon-Ya (a loudly dressed street musicians employed for advertisement purposes).

This September, after 2 month leave, we found our rhythm feelings much more important in a way, which Chel might have tried to let us know in many ways so far. With high potential to make our nice music as a small combo, we have concentrated on "Saba" to make it better.

Interesting to know Chel thinks Yow does not know differences in rhythms between classic and Samba as he played Saba's intro in classic way, I myself thought Yow must have felt that he played the intro in Samba. Clear that what Yow understands is mostly not what Chel understands if it comes to music. WARS continue.

Hi, MA. Without Yow I must have more solo parts, naturally. That strangles me. Mmmm...
