I did not know what ensemble was. I might have ignored it for two years since my enrollment in The Compact, unknowingly.

Chel, our bandmaster referred to it repeatedly, but most of members seemed to be deaf about that. As a result, our music was just like a mess with collection of solos from various parts, such as drums, woodwinds, bass, kb... But I did not know what we were. Why? I guess it is because I was very naive about music, and did not know whom to listen to in early period of my band life in The Compact.

On Sep.17, the very day of our stage at Peking Hall, Chel taught me repeatedly what I should do. That is to play simple notes. Playing simply. No grace notes. No jazzy arrangement. No add-libs. Just play simple sounds. I couldn't get what he meant at first, which he had referred to so far perhaps many many times. 

Now I came to get that. I suddenly got that. When sounds from each part came to reach me, I suddenly got that. What ensemble is.

Ensemble is not of self-assertion, but of communication which harmonizes. It might impress/move/touch  and vibrate us.  Well, hope the band go in "Good Vibration".
