Full of musical instruments in my house. Why?
VOLUNTEERING / MUSIC THERAPY

MUSIC VOLUNTEERING: Kaz, a friend of mine, a member of a mandolin ensemble, let me know senior people's institutions are eager to have music events for residents there. She said that she offered this idea to the leaders of her ensemble but got cool reply from them. And she asked me if The Compact accept their invitation to music volunteering.  I wondered if the band be available for this. Yow is already one of those of the regularly volunteering in such kind of facilities. To ask him and his band?????

Kaz has been volunteering as a part-time care taker for the senior in some facilities for more than 15 years. She has fermented good/reliable relationships with local senior people. Besides, Kaz is a guitarist of the ensemble, and knows chords. I thought Kaz and I could do something for this. Maybe this will start working next spring.

MUSIC THERAPY: Recently I've been to the Swedish Embassy with my students. A researcher of SCI (Swedish Care Institute)  showed a guitar-like musical instrument and showed how to use it before us. It is one of tools for music therapy for senior people. Its price is more than 40 thousand yen. Interesting. It might involve those who've been far from doing music by themselves. The researcher who developed this will come to Japan next March.
