About Myself |
||
| Hi! Let me introduce myself. My name is Arman Soeriasoemantri. Some people might have problem pronouncing my last name, so this is the way it's pronounced: sur-ya-su-man-tri. I was born in Bandung, about 3.5 hours drive from the capital of Indonesia, 22 years before the millennium comes. I have two brothers, one older and one younger, both of them are back home. My mom is a public notary and my dad works in a real estate company. I went to high school there, then I came to US in 1997. I took the English as Second Language course at University of Kentucky for one semester, then I enrolled in University of Kentucky in Fall 1998. At first I was majoring in Finance, but I came to realize that Finance wasn't really 'my thing'. I had Accounting in High School and I like it. My goal someday is to run my own business and I figure by majoring in Accounting I can understand numbers on reports better, so I changed my major to Accounting. I added International Business as my minor because I'd like to understand the business world from a global prospective. Then I graduated from University of Kentucky in May 2001. After several months trying out the Lexington job market, finally I decided to move to D.C. area because the area offers more job opportunities. I recently completed an assignment, working as an Operations Assistant at Century National Bank. It was a valuable experience, taught me how a business really operates in the real world. And now I'm hungry for more employment ........... :P All this time I've been trying to make myself more marketable. Some of you might wonder, "This is a person who wants to be an Accountant but has no internship experience. What's up with that?" Well, I have to admit that was the naive thought of myself when I was a college student, thinking that a degree alone would land me a job. I couldn't be any more wrong, and I realized that. Right now I'm trying to improve my accounting skills. Long time ago I installed the "Introduction to Accounting " software by McGraw-Hill on my PC and started practicing my general accounting skills. So far my average grade is an "A". I acquired eLearning CD-ROMs of PeachTree and QuickBooks so I can familiarize myself with those software packages. Most recently I took a test on Accounts Payable Fundamentals offered by Brainbench® and scored 3.75/5.0, second-highest in Washington D.C. area and better than 87% of previous takers. To see the result, click the icon at the bottom and enter 3440014 for the transcript number. I wish I could take more tests to prove that I'm knowledgeable in my field, but it costs $20 to take a test so that should be it for now. Maybe later I'd take some more tests. Enough about myself, please feel free to check out the other sections in this site.
