I am Sudeshna. Eventhough I am basically from Jamshedpur ( I hope you have heard the name since you are from Calcutta and Jamshedpur is just 4 hrs journey from Cal.) but I stay in Tallahassee, Florida.
I was looking for a place in Florida where Durga Puja is celebrated. While searching through Yahoo and Google, both the sites provided me with a big list and that's how I came across your site. I want to be very candid in saying that the name "Nostalgia" is very much appropriate for this site, manily for those people who hardly get chance to go back "home" mainly during Puja.
May be I should give a brief introduction about me. I am The Lioness, born on 3rd Aug'73. Born and brought up in Jamshedpur and so stayed very close to our culture. In 1991 I went to Dhanbad to do my Engg. from BIT Sindri. Even though Dhanbad is in Bihar but it's 90% population is Bengali, so there also I didn't feel out-of-place. After completeing my B.Tech I had got through TELCO, Jamshedpur through campous interview and right into the s/w field ( It was a surprize for me because I had done my engg. in Metallurgy) and since then I went too deep into this computer world. After leaving TELCO I had joined HCL Tech, Delhi and then had came over to Los Angeles. But I have always been lucky because even in LA I visited a place where they celebrate Durgapuja and the way they had arranged everything I felt as if I was in Calcutta.
This year in April I married the man I love most and left my job to start a new chapter of my life and to prepare myself for another new chapter( I am taking GMAT in Oct and planing to for MBA). But (un)fortunately he is not Bengali and doesn't understand a single word in Bengali. So I really can't make him understand how much this festival is important to me. My husband is a very nice man though. He told me to find out if Durga Puja is celebrated somewhere in Florida. And that's why I started searching for it.
I am not sure if you would read this mail. But if you do then I am sure you would underdstand why I wrote you this mail. Because I am very happy to see that you have meticulously built this site and I thought I must appreciate your work.
