- Barb, tell us a little about yourself:
I am Daniel's Mother, Father, loan officer, advisor, retired chauffeur,
etc,
etc. I have enjoyed these jobs for almost 22 years now. My paying job
is
at Gonzaga University in Spokane. I am the Administrative/Executive
Assistant to the Vice President of Administration and Planning and the
Chancellor. This is a very exciting job, and every day is a little
different. I have a lot of contact with the Trustees and Regents of
the
University, and also alumni and benefactors.
- Barb, tell us a little about Katie:
My first impression of Katie was that she was so young. But then my son
quickly reminded me that, "Weren't you 5 years younger that Dad?" That
says
it all. Over the past 4-5 years I have seen Katie grow into a very
mature
young woman. (I can still say young because she is a lot younger that
me!)
If someone would have told me 5 years ago that Dan and Katie would be a
couple I wouldn't have believed it. That's not a bad thing, because
our
families had had contact over the years at school functions.
- Barb, tell us about Dan and Katie as a couple:
I remember after the kids had been together for only about 2 years
(before
they were engaged) and we were all together for Christmas, a birthday or
some
other gathering and they were arguing. We all looked at each other
at
the same time said, "And how long have you two been married?" I guess
then I
knew that Dan and Katie were meant for each other.
- Barb, tell us a little about the wedding:
I feel very special because usually the Mother of the Groom doesn't get
to
be involved much in the planning of her son's wedding. Katie, Dan, Tom
and
Kim especially, thank you for making me part of the plans. I am glad
that
we have become such good friends, (in spite of the wedding plans!).
- Okay, it's your forum - have at it:
They always say that the relationship between a mother and son is
special,
which means that the mother wants the best for her son. He has found
that
in Katie.
- Dan and Katie, I am very proud of you both; May your happiest
moments
be many!
Now my big challenge - finding water proof makeup so I don't have black
streaks running down my face during the ceremony. But remember, they
will
not be tears of sadness, but tears of joy.
