I've worked in the Audio Visual Industry for over 10 years. My experience ranges from Telecom troubleshooting simple and complex issues to High-end fully integrated videoconferencing rooms. My latest project is a large divisible room I designed that allows a group of 3 people to control a full production event that would normally take 5 people. By bringing everything into a central control room, and integrating all controls, it simplified the use and design. AV Integrator magazine is going to do a write up on this room once it is complete in September.
In the residential world, I recently designed and installed a fully integrated centralized Audio Visual system for a 2,900 square foot home. Each room, including bedrooms has High-def cabling and Cat5E cabling running back to a central location. The equipment lives in closets to Alleviate clutter. Also, all Telephone/LAN ports route back to a central location for patching whatever you want to that port.
I also designed the centralized lighting system for the house. With over 190 recessed lights throughout the house, any button in any room can control any light, or series of lights.
