Tonde Buurin Sound Scheme, Cantonese Edition, Revision 3
Thank you for downloading the Tonde Buurin sound scheme. Feel free to
send me comments, questions and suggestions to kokubu-karin@geocities.com.
Before you install the sound scheme, unpack the ZIP file into a "scheme
directory", then follow one of the instruction sets below, depending on
which operating system you currently use. Don't use a temporary directory
because the scripts and programs used for installation will not copy files
for you.
Windows 3.1x |
Windows 95/98/NT 4.0 |
OS/2 2.1 or Warp 3 |
OS/2 Warp 4 |
Manual assignment
If you wish to install both Japanese and Cantonese versions, complete
the installation of one of them first, then unpack and install the other.
Not all operating systems support multiple, user selectable sound schemes.
Installation instructions
Windows 3.1x
The additional sound events introduced by Windows for Workgroups and third-party
applications are not affected.
-
Exit Windows.
-
Change to the scheme directory. (Type "chdir <scheme directory>" without
quotes, and press Enter. Same for below)
-
Type BUUSND31 and press Enter. This program tries to find a copy of installed
Windows 3.1. If it finds none, or more than one copies, it prompts you
for the path to it. Then it replaces all system sounds with those from
the package.
-
Restart Windows. Karin's transformation spell should greet you.
Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0
This method will not work under Windows NT 3.5x. You will have to manually
assign sounds to events. For some unknown reasons, you need administrator
privileges to install the sound scheme this way under NT.
-
Start Windows Explorer, and navigate down to the scheme directory.
-
Right click on BUUSND.INF, then select "Install".
-
Click on Start button, select Settings, then Control Panel.
-
Double click on Sounds.
-
Click on the Schemes list. You should now see "Tonde Buurin JPN" in the
list. Select it.
-
Click OK.
OS/2 Version 2.1x, Warp 3
-
Make sure you have installed multimedia (MMPM/2) support..
-
Open an OS/2 Window or OS/2 Full Screen session.
-
Change to the scheme directory.
-
Type BUUSND2 and press Enter. This program replaces current sound effects
with those from the package.
-
The changes should take effect right away.
OS/2 Warp 4
-
Make sure you have installed multimedia (MMPM/2) support.
-
Open an OS/2 Window or OS/2 Full Screen session.
-
Change to the scheme directory.
-
Type BUUSND2 and press Enter. This program installs the sound scheme into
Warp 4.
-
Open the System Setup folder.
-
Double click on Sound.
-
Click on Schemes tab.
-
You should now see "Tonde Buurin JPN" in the list box. Highlight it, then
click Apply.
