"KOKOMO LADY WILDKATS' SCHEDULE AND RESULTS"

KOKOMO at HARRISON Well fans; Kokomo LadyKat Basketball has hit the floor for another great season and tonight they played Harrison at the McCutcheon gym due to water problems at Harrison. The B- team opened their season with a 26 to 15 win in a game that showed a lot of work needed but enough desire to overpower the opponent. They will get better and the season looks good for them. The varsity took the floor and you could see that they relished the fact that they are the defending champs in 4 A and they were ready to go all out to defend thier crown. Although the game started off rocky for the Kats, Haylee got them going and the rest followed suit. Coach had to revert to the zone defense due to an abundant of fouls called on Kokomo, and the zone opened up our game and shut down theirs. There were several stars out there on the floor but again this writer tries not to look at one facet and I take the whole game as another team win The final score tonight was 63 to 47 in favor of our LadyKats who now will play at home against Noblesville. Great game played by a great team togetherness.Looks like another fun year for the fans.GO LADYKATS.

KOKOMO home NOBLESVILLE The LadyKats took on Noblesville tonight and not having any scouting done on this team due to a heavy graduating class last year and the first game for the Millers, it took a while to find out their type of play. In the reserve game it was fairly close but our young LadyKats pulled out a victory with a score of 32 to 22. Nice work ladies. In the varsity game we started out slow with several mistakes and the first quarter was fairly even. About half way in the second quarter, it got a little heated with a player from both teams and a tech was called on our player. Things kept at a heated pitch for the remainder of the first half and it was time to take a break and talk it up in the locker room. Whatever was said in the locker room came out to the floor as our Ladies took control and held the Millers to just nine points the whole second half. There is a lot of desire showing on the faces of this team as they represent the city and the school this year. They will grow and they will get better and come sectional time they will be ready to defend the State Championship that was won last year.Final score was KOKOMO OVER NOBLESVILLE BY A SCORE OF 54 TO 34. GREAT JOB TONIGHT, LADY KATS. Keep up the good play and keep that fire going. TEAM PLAY WINS GAMES.

KOKOMO home LAFAYETTE JEFF This week the LadyKats were host to the Broncos from Lafayette, and in the reserve game we had some problems taking care of the ball and the shots taken were not the type, that we would of wanted, and thus the reserves lost to the Broncos by a score of 31 to 24. We will improve as the season goes along. But in the varsity game just being hosts was not all that Lafayette got from us as our ladies put on a show with good defense, good shots taken, and all around great team play. As we have seen in the other games, this group of Ladies are very unselfish and they know what to do with the ball once it is in their hands. As usual there were high scorers in this game but team play is the name of the game. The Kokomo LadyKats won this one by the score of 60 to 35. GREAT WORK,MY LADIES & KEEP IT UP.

KOKOMO at McCUTCHEON

Well, we don't like defeats, but they sometimes come about when you come across a team that uses a flex offence, & you know that getting the ball in your court is limited and when they turn it over, you have to make the plays on your end. McCutcheon got off to a big start throwing up the ball from down yonder and making them. They had seven shots from the 3 point line and they made 5 of them. We got behind 18 to 4 before we were able to settle down and the rest of the game really belong to us, but it just wasn't in the books tonight to win this one. The final score was 35 to 32 in favor of the home team. We will benefit from this loss because we will have learned from it. Look for our Ladykats to bounce right back next week. You can't keep a great team down very long and our LadyKats are a great team. Take a deep breath ladies and do a little film watching and we will be alright. Another night of watching our Ladykats in action has passed, and the next one is coming up. Great work ladies, & Happy Thanksgiving..

KOKOMO home ANDERSON

Well, if we hadn't been there in the crowd watching, we would of never believed the sight we saw, as our reserve team was down by 1 point to the Anderson reserves with a little less than 3 seconds left on the clock and Kokomo with the ball on the Anderson end of the court. The ball was thrown in to the middle court with the hands of at least eight players up to catch the ball. One set of hands caught the ball and right away tossed it toward the Kokomo basket and it went right in to make the score 28 to 26 in favor of our Kokomo reserve team. What a way to get the crowd into the game. Boy, I am out of breath watching that. And then as our varsity began their quest to win another NCC game, they suddenly found that the Anderson team was going to hold the ball as long as possible and get the best shot . This worked but they have to realize that in order for that to work you have to hold the other team down. They couldn't do it because Kokomo came back with firepower and suddenly there was 18 points put on the Kokomo scoreboard and really from there on, it was the LadyKats game and we saw Coach using the bench a lot in order to get some experience by the rest of the team. As usual, this team of ladies take heart in what they do and how they do it on the basketball court. They continue to be an unselfish bunch dedicated to winning the ballgame as a team. I was really pleased with the play and the desire of this team of great Ladies as they show the crowd on both sides of the court that they can win and have fun doing it. Final score was 65 to 37 in favor of Kokomo. Thanks LadyKats for making my day once more.

KOKOMO home GARY WEST On this Thursday evening, our LadyKats played host to Gary West and it's Cougars, who are ranked # 4 in the state and rightfully so. The reserve game was a little on the Kats side as they played a young team from Gary, who are still in the learning process due to most of the varsity coming back from last year. Kokomo took the reserve game by a score of 47 to 24. Our reserve ladies are improving each game. Than, when the varsity game started ,it was a very tough defensive team of Cougars making it very hard to work an offense to. But Our LayKats were up to it, and they took their show to a higher level, as they slowly but surely worked for the open man and then scoring. Once Gary was behind, then their defense took a second floor to trying to mount an offense of attempted three pointers to get back into the game. Our lead improved, because they had to foul and we made the free-throws. While on the floor and working against the hardy defensive effort by Gary West, our LadyKats practiced how to keep the ball in our hands and protecting our lead. This effort tonight was a great learning tool for our team as they work toward the tournament at the end of the season. Final score with the LadyKats winning was 48 to 32. Great game played against a team that they might meet in the tournament, with lots of pride in how they did it.

KOKOMO home WESTERNWestern sent it's reserve team in to Kokomo to start off a good night of basketball and did a job well even though they lost the reserve game by a score of 39 to 30. Then the Western Varsity Ladies came on the floor this night to do battle with our LadyKats, and they had a good game plan ready to shut down the great offensive punch of our Ladies. They put on a great defense on the guards bringing the ball up the court and that slowed down the point totals put forth by our backcourt. So for a little over a half of the ballgame, they were still within range of putting the whammy on us. But when you shut down one part of our offense, you leave another one that will take you to the bank, cash the check and say thank you on the way out. Our two towers underneath did the work we knew they could as time and again the ball was going inside and baskets scored. The Western Girls are pretty good and they will get better as they have several young people on the team. They have the desire and the speed to make a great team. Our LadyKats took this one by a score of 55 to 33. Great job once more out of a great bunch who tries to always look for the open team member. Thanks my ladies for another great show.

KOKOMO home MARION
Double Header It was another night of LadyKat basketball in Memorial Gym as one of Kokomo's oldest rivalies took center stage with our LadyKats taking on Marion. This game was one that saw the cover put on the LadyKats basket as the shots just seem to hit a barrier and rim back out. As far as the Marion team shooting, they were just barely getting to the rim with the basketball bouncing off into Kokomo's hands. The Giants put on a defense but it didn't work so they had to count on us missing. Our defense took over in the second half and with the towers inside and little mac on the outside we found a way to win this one by a score of 40 to 29. Great job by all of the Kats tonight as the bench did their usual good job of giving our starters some rest when needed. We are learning as we travel our path toward the tourament with our goal in the meantime being the NCC championship. We can do that with our desire and our continued learning along with the support of the school and the fans. Man, isn't it great to watch this team?

KOKOMO home CARMEL

The Kokomo LadyKats wecomed Carmel to Memorial Gym tonight but they didn't back off taking the Carmel gals to a learning class of how to play the game. This old man didn't make it to the game this night due to getting the old ticker checked in Indy, but my spotter was there and here is what went on this night. The first quarter was sort of a battle of who can be in the lead as the game was tied at 8 before Little Mac took over with the 3 point shot.. Then the team got going without looking back as they used the inside game plus the defense of the gals in the backcourt to almost shut down the two promising scorers for Carmel. The Ladies off the bench did their usual great play as did the whole team in a winning effort by a score of 58 to 44. Sorry I missed the game, as I will miss the Huntington game also but my heart tells me that these Ladies can do the job well without me in the stands, as they continue their quest toward the tournament trail later. So far this old LadyKat fan has been given the best of the basketball play of our Ladies and they will continue to be our darlings of the court. Thanks Ladies for a great season so far

KOKOMO home HUNTINGTON NORTH This night, the Huntington Lady Vikings came to town to do battle in a game between two of the best here in Indiana and it was a game that gave the fans everything they wanted in that type of competition. Huntington wasted no time in taking our ladies to school as they worked the boards, took advantage of townovers and late in the 4th quartor had a lead of 15 points before Kokomo woke up and went on their aggressive trapping defense resulting in townovers by the Lady Vikings and they scored off those townovers. Kokomo took this one by a score of 64 to 57 in two overtimes. This writer was not present at the game due to having heart work done down in Indy and it was probaby good that I wasn't because this game might of took me over the line of life with all the excitement that my spotter had in watching it. This game is another learning aid when it comes time to do battle in the tourament. Every game you learn from and we are doing our homework too. Great game my Ladies. Keep it up because this writer will be at the next game.

KOKOMO home NEW CASTLE After the holiday break, the Ladies from New Castle came to Memorial Gym to test the Kokomo Ladykats in a NCC game. This one started out looking like maybe New Castle might hold the ball and possibly derail our LadyKats but you have to either be real good at making it work or you lose in the event that you don't score and the other team does. And New Castle did a lot of trapping and pressing starting out but it didn't stop our ladies from scoring. Add to that our ladies did a great job of half court trapping and turnovers were changed into points scored by us. Once more the entire team played in an unselfish manner looking for the open lady with the best chance of scoring. It was a great game to sit and cheer for with our LadyKats winning this one by a score of 61 to 34. Another great afternoon spent watching our LadyKats play ball and a great way to start out the new year.

KOKOMO at PERU The LadyKats went north to Peru to play the ladies of Peru High School, and they used their half court press to create turnovers and they utilized the twin towers underneath the basket to perfection. The first half as far as scoring was a little below par as they were shooting only about 35 %, but this was enough to keep the game interesting to the Peru fans. But in the 4th quarter, the LadyKats took Peru to school with 80% shooting and that is about all they needed in winning this one by a score of 58 to 23. Nice game for a Thursday evening and our Ladies are slowly climbing that road to the tournament. Thanks LadyKats for another win on the road.

KOKOMO at PENN The Kokomo LadyKats took their show on the road to Penn where on this cold Saturday afternoon, they shut down the play of Penn's best while showing that the game can be won with teamwork more times than with individual effort. This team is very good at finding the open lady and scoring as an assist to each other. One of the towers was sitting out most of the 1st half due to foul trouble but the other tower did what she needed to do to take up the slack. Our outside shooting still brings cheers from the fans and the play of the ones off the bench keeps the cheers going too. This one was won by our Kokomo Ladies by a score of 62 to 44. Now it is off to Chicago to play against some of the best teams in the country in The Chicagoland classic.

KOKOMO at FENWICK
CHICAGOLAND CLASSIC The Kokomo LadyKats took their game on the road to Chicago for two games in the Chicagoland Prep Classic, playing The Fenwick Friars. This game was a good one for the Kats as they need to go up against tough teams in order to better their game. The LadyKats led this one at the half 29 to 24, and was up by 7 in the 3rd quarter, but with the team being a little tired from making the trip, they ran in trouble as the Friars scored 12 straight points and were up by 5 in the 4th. With 54 seconds left in the game, Kokomo started their move and tied the game at 48 to 48 with Fenwick scoring a last second shot to give Fenwick the victory. The LadyKats played well in this game and they learn from a defeat like this and it can only help them for the rest of the season. They still have one more game to play before heading home to Indiana. Keep your heads high my Ladies.

KOKOMO at Niles North Of Skokie
CHICAGOLAND CLASSIC
The Kokomo LadyKats played their second game in as many days in Chicago and they played with pride as they lost the game by two points , by a score of 47 to 45 to the Niles North Vikings. Kokomo had a nice lead of nine points with a little over two minutes remaining but we went cold and the Niles team heated up. Even though this was our second loss here in Chicago, our LadyKats picked up a lot of good information. Playing against competition that you don't have too much information about and still stay with them losing by only 2 points in each game says a lot about the team itself. Going to Chicago and playing your hearts out and coming home with two losses can only make our LadyKats tougher and come tourament time, they will be ready to take on whoever they have to in order to make that trip back down to Indy for all the marbles. KOKOMO at LOGANSPORT The Kokomo LadyKats are back in Indiana, and they went to Logansport on this Tuesday to play the Logansport ladies in another NCC game. This one started out sort of sluggish in that the LadyKats had some poor shooting and the girls from Logan shot even worst. It was only a low score of 18 to 4 in favor of our LadyKats at the half. But in the 2nd half, they got it into gear and they burned rubber in some hot shooting with assists galore, using the word teamwork to perfection. The whole team got to show their skills in this one as our Kokomo LadyKats are back on the winning road with a final score of 55 to 20. Great game by all and great teamwork by all. Thanks LadyKats for playing like you did after the heartbreaking losses in Chicago.

KOKOMO home MUNCIE CENTRAL It was a very cold day outside but inside the Kokomo Memorial Gym, it was nice and warm, as our LadyKats took on the Muncie Central Lady Bearcats in another NCC game. Once again the scene was one of a team working together to complete another great game . This one would asure our Ladies of another NCC Championship which would be the seventh year in a row. The fans were not dissapointed as great shooting, rebounding, and defense was at a high as our LadyKats took this one by a score of 51 to 19. The season isn't over yet with games still to be played but our LadyKats are ready to defend the State Championship with the combination of shooting, rebounding and, smothering defense, and the teamwork of a great bunch of ladies who make us proud to call them The Kokomo Lady WildKats. Where else but in Indiana can you get intertainment as such a low price?

KOKOMO at FRANKFORT On a very cold evening in January, Our kadyKats took their game to Frankfort to warm up things in Case Arena. From the start, the LadyKats controlled the inside and they were leading 19 to 5 at the end of the 1st quarter. As always, this was a game played with teamwork and skill. You don't get this group of young ladies upset, so that it will affect their game. They use common sense, and they do the playing as they were taught to by Coach Hall. You spread your offense, you work toward the inside and if you can't get inside, you work for the best shot,and you fire from 3 point land. This group of LadyKats are fun to watch and they are blending together with each game. This one ended with Kokomo winning the game at a score of 60 to 45. Another great warming up on a cold night.

KOKOMO at RICHMOND Today, the Kokomo Lady Wildkats took their game to Richmond to take on the Lady Red Devils. They were already the winners of the NCC Championship, but they needed to win at Richmond to own it outright. Richmond threw a 2-3 zone on the LadyKats and it was tough trying to get the ball inside. After several attempts to go inside they went to their outside shooting game and that turned a close game into one that ended up with our LadyKats on top with a winning score of 47 to 28. That made our LadyKats the sole owner of the NCC trophy and it kept alive their streak of seven titles in a row and this was just one more game to prepare for the state tourney. So far this writer has seen different players come to the front when needed to fill the scoring threat that a great team needs to excell. This season has really went too fast for me as I look forward each year to see our Ladies play ball the way that makes all of us proud. We have one more test before grading time as North Central will provide a big test as to how we will go in the tourney. Thanks Ladies for another great game filled with teamwork and skill.

KOKOMO HOME NORTH CENTRAL Another season about to end with only one more game before the sectionals, and the North Central Lady Pathers came to town to play the Kokomo Lady Wildkats and the fans were given a show of guts mixed with shots that just wouldn't fall and up against a 6ft. 5 in. Lady Panther who when she finishes high school will be a player to watch. This game played before a great crowd gave us all a good look at the guts of a team that will be remembered for a long time. Kokomo played a game that most high schools would of just thought would be a loss in their record books. But our LadyKats don't like the word loss in their game and they showed it up to the last second. That shot just would not fall which would of given us the win. But you can't get down with this loss because it might just be what we need to make us work just that little bit more to perfect our game. We have lost four games this year by a total of eight points and that my ladies is remarkable. This game turned out as a loss in the record books for our LadyKats but in the minds of all of them, it will be that little boost to go into the sectional with more desire to take home the championship. Great game played by a great group of ladies led by three seniors who we will remember for a long time. Now let's go get that sectional championship and all those after . The final score this night was 51 to 50 in favor of North Central.

"IT IS SECTIONAL TIME"

KOKOMO 1st game of sectional McCutcheon The Lady Kats started their quest tonight to defend the state championship here in the sectionals at Memorial Gym. They took on probaly the best of the group of teams playing here and remembering that they had lost to McCutcheon earlier in the season, they used their team play and tough defense to take out McCutcheon from the tournament. They went inside against a taller opponent and they looked for the back door play to happen. Great team play by all took this game by a score of 43 to 24. Kokomo now has to be ready for Lafayette Jeff who beat out Logansport in the first game. They will hook it up on Friday evening in the first game. Charlie and his crew will get the Ladykats prepared for that next move. Great game , my Ladies. We are proud of you.

KOKOMO 2nd game of sectional Lafayette Jeff The LadyKats took on Lafayette Jeff tonight in the Kokomo Sectional, before a nice crowd, and no Kokomo fan was sad about the ending as our ladies showed some real good teamwork in getting another win. Lafayette tried to slow down the LadyKat Express by trapping the outside game and getting some turnovers by our Ladykats. But that left the inside game open with a one on one game and baskets were made with nice moves by the front line. Good leadership by the guards resuted in some easy baskets underneath. Lafayette's trapping did cause some problems but it just was not enough to take this game as our LadyKats won by a score of 56 to 37. Now they will take on Marion in the final step to the sectional championship. Great teamwork by a great bunch of LadyKats.

KOKOMO Championship Game Marion This was the final game of this sectional and Kokomo took on Marion. the Marion team felt that they could derail the LadyKats and using a little skill and some terrible calls by the referees, they sent our two towers to the bench early with foul problems. But that is where this Ladykat team excells in that there is always someone waiting to play with teamwork and skill. With our guards running the plays almost to perfection, they found the open lady under the basket and many times they took the ball in themselves to score. Marion didn't give up easily and you didn't really feel safe with our spread of points until the final five minutes. Kokomo won this one by a score of 49 to 34 to take the sectional championship. They now will go to Huntington to take on Warsaw in a regional filled with great teams. Go LadyKats with pride in how you play and bring home the championship.

KOKOMO Warsaw Our Lady Wildkats took their game to Huntington to play Warsaw in the second game of the Huntington regional, and they went up against probaly the best there is in in the state this year. But that didn't scare our LadyKats as they fought for everything they got and they didn't give up until the final second went off the clock as Warsaw sent us home on the losing end of the score of 57 to 47. The end of a great season came today, and our LadyKats have no reason to be feeling too bad for long, as they played their hearts out and they gave us a great season. These girls are a credit to the city of Kokomo, Indiana. Kokomo High School and it's Lady Wildkats gave all of the fans a very great seasom.

This is where I put down my words to describe the LadyKats of 2003-2004. I have enjoyed watching this team of young ladies each night putting on their show of skill, talent, teamwork, desire and guts, playing basketball the way it is supposed to be played. Being a fan for many a year and watching some of the best teams and players, I have to say that this team worked about as hard as anyone I know, trying to have fun and pleasing the fans in the gyms. When our LadyKats went to other cities to play, the fans in those cities could be heard to say that ours is the best system they have ever seen. I know that as we sat watching our ladies play ball, we were proud to let the fans know those are our Lady WildKats out there on the floor. The season is over with the loss at Huntington, but the memory of a great season will stay with us for a long time. And to those three young ladies who won't be here next year, we say to you that we hope that life will continue to bless you with joy and contentment. Ladies, you gave us a great ride on the LadyKat Express, and for that we say "THANK YOU"
