Hi, All!
It has been a while (3 months) since I updated my homepage. I have been doing all right. In fact, my life has been so happening that I have not had time to update my homepage.
My trip rock climbing trip to Joshua Tree National Park in April was excellent. I really enjoyed climbing this time. I have a backpacking trip coming up from July 18 to 24, going up to Mt. Whitney (the highest mountain in U.S.) and Eastern High Sierras with a couple of my friends, and we will be meeting up with two friends, who will be backpacking the entire John Muir Trail (a very very long hiking trail in Sierras). I am also organizing a backpacking trip to Ansel Adams Wilderness (southeast of Yosemite National Park) in September, and I want to plan another little trip in August.
I also re-started my black and white photography. I joined a darkroom membership in the Harvey Milk Recreation Center, a community center with a darkroom. Also, I joined Marin Photography Club. The club organizes monthly meetings with competitions. Looking at works by other people keeps me in focus for the eyes for art. It has been a little bit of straggle to re-learn what I used to do, but I am slowly getting it. I am also trying out "toy cameras", and it has been fun. (Photography section for more details)
My work has been keeping me busy (as always), but I have been making progresses. I attended the Annual Meeting of Society of Nuclear Medicine in St. Louis at the beginning of June. I successfully presented a talk about my work and made professional connections. It was a good learning opportunity as well. Currently, I have been working on a proposal for building a dedicated CT scanner for premature babies. I am quite excited about this project as such a device is clinically in demand and has a potential to significantly improve the quality of care for these little patients. I am also supposed to be promoted to Assistant Adjunct Professor (whatever that means). This position will (hopefully) give more control over my research effort, so I am excited about that.
I will have to finish up the miniCT proposal before the trip to Sierras. I hope that it will be a wonderful summer for me. So, what is up with your life?
Love! Koji
