"Second Grade"
senior  memory book: chapter two: article
Second grade. The final year I attended Morgan Elementary. By now, I had discovered the true evil behind that which is school. I absolutely abhorred the concept of returning to class, but I went along with it anyways.

I started the year under the teaching of Mrs. OConnell, but she had a baby a short while into the year, so she was replaced for almost the rest of the year by a substitute. I did far better in school this year, with a perfect score in health and near-perfect scores in science and social studies. My lowest average grade was a B+.

The year went by decently, and I put up with the fact that I hated school. My friend of the year this year was another classmate named Nick. Wed constantly try to see who could get his work done first, and we would do nearly everything with each other. We werent as close friends as Kyle and I were, but we were still pretty good friends.

At the end of the year, we received letters that stated what teachers we would be having the next year. Nobody really cared what teacher they got, as long as it wasnt one certain one Ms. Estes, the schools witch-teacher. Everybody thought she was evil, and a terribly mean teacher truly horrible to have. So, I pulled open my letter, and glanced at the name, only to be assigned to the very teacher we dreaded. I moaned, I groaned, I pleaded with the teacher to let me go to the principal to switch it. No success. When I got home, I complained to my parents, attempting to talk them into transferring me out. What I got was better than that it turned out that wed be moving over the summer, and Id be going to a new school!
