"Injuries and Sicknesses"
senior  memory book: chapter one: article
I had a very eventful childhood, covered with exciting times for a young child. However, there were times when the excitement was postponed by injury or sickness.

My first bout encountered in my life was somewhat early. I came down with chicken pox at the age of six months. Luckily, I got through it easily, but not unmarked Im scarred today due to it.

I managed to escape injury and any significant sicknesses for a while. Then, aged three, it began. First, I fell off some small bleachers onto a concrete ground, landing on my chin (thus busting it up), and I bit straight through my tongue. Through the next two years, I bit it many more times, but not nearly as bad as this first time.

When I learned to ride a 2-wheeler bike, I showed my ability to my grandparents and promptly flipped over my handlebars, grinding my face up on the pavement. Twice more, I did this before finally mastering that which is the bicycle wreck (after that, Id scratch up my knees, elbows, and hands).

Then, perhaps the most frightening of the injuries was the near-broken nose. I had a bunk bed, and I would always jump off my top bunk. One time, I was going for this and my foot caught the side, causing my face to meet the ground first, landing directly on my nose. Blood promptly gushed from it. We had it x-rayed and the doctors said it was broken, but it turned out they were wrong, and my nose was okay.

Injuries and sicknesses continued on, with numerous bugs, a broken finger just before 8th grade, mono in early 10th grade, a broken nose (for real this time) in mid 10th grade, and a tweaked shoulder in 12th.
