MENELMACARI FACTIONS FIGHT OVER SCRAPS

In what has become a mockery of the concept of micronations, a coup d'etat in Menelmacar has prompted age-old questions of who owns what as it relates to micronations. Over many years, and many internal strifes later, no reasonably clear definition of ownership has been determined. Does a nation's Founder own a micronation? Do the people who work hard to make it work well? These are questions that are once again raised as recent conflicts in Menelmacar take shape.

It appears that the situation has started to subside from a hostile tug-of-war between the old Menelmacari government, and a new faction that has taken over control of the EzBoards because of an EzOp being miffed politically. This faction, lead by Elentari Sirithil nos Feanor, has assumed dominance over the nation's ezboard forums, forcing the legitimately empowered government, lead by Archetype the 23rd, Elenaran of Menelmacar, to reemerge under a new forum, located at http://pub98.ezboard.com/bmenelmacar .

The Sirithil lead coup has banned the members and supporters of the legitimate government, only recently removing the ban. But members of the Archetype government are content in their new home, and have not returned to their previous forums. Archetype has said "Menelmacar right now is doing great, we have new citizens coming along wanting to join us. The conclave of equals is very active, and people obviously care."

International sentiments seem to be in support of Archetype's government. Politika has emerged as recognizing both sides of the coup, as separate legitimate states. Attera came out first to make their support official. Baracao, remains "officially" neutral, but many prominent citizens of Baracao have expressed their support. Babkha has wholeheartedly supported Archetype's government, and some citizens have advocated enforcing a "stronger isolation" of the Sirithil-lead coup regime. Genuine international concern has shown that the Sirithil regime, which some compare to the Taliban and Al-Qaeda of recent infamy, has made a mockery of the concept of micronationalism.

Other international sentiments have even claimed that Sirithil has created a new nation, that does not resemble all the Menelmacar that was meant to be, and even gone as far as to call the coup regime "fascist." Observers have noted that she has destroyed the constitution, rewritten history in order to feed a propganda machine that would make Goebbels blush, and has instituted herself as "elentari forever" much akin to a dramatic Julius Caesar claiming to be dictator ad vitam. The other situation which has caused claims of fascism is that Sirithil has also limited suffrage rights in the coup-regime, by determining who can, and cannot vote.

Only time will tell, and looking back we will see who history treats kindly. So far, the frontrunner seems to be Archetype and the Menelmacar that the world recognizes as legitimate.
