UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT, LOSS DEBATES FUTURE

"I propose we let her die," said HRH King Spence of Zarahelma, in what could have been said at almost any time over the last few years. He was speaking of the League of Secessionist States (LOSS), and after breaking a near month-long silence, King Spence has repeated a sentiment many have said almost every time the League went on an inactive spree.

This inactivity is primarily due to the disappearance of Lord Charles Gordon of Morovia, the Secretary-General who seems to have completely fallen off the map -- even well before Morovia herself went inactive. The lack of an active Secretary-General of the League has plagued the organization since it was revitalized in 1998 by David Kendall of the now-defunct, but never active to begin with, Commonwealth of Port Colice. Gordon's tenure began after LOSS's peak, where former Secretary-General Diga Makonnen IV increased membership, and the General Assembly debated voraciously. But, Gordon did not keep up the dynamic, and many League members just gave up rather than deal with the perennial streaks of inactivity.

However, rather than let the organization fall into dormancy, Nicholas I, of the New Worcester Kingdom, and President of the Republic of Amerada said in response, "The LoSS could work if it had an active and commited Secretary- General and a membership that wants it to continue. The LoSS has lasted too long to be just thrown away because of temporary apathy or because of bad administration." He further expressed his desire to give Secretary-General Lord Gordon another chance. But he was quickly countered by Tristan Glark of the Aerican Empire, who expressed his concerns that the League has no business to conduct, and really has no purpose.

At the request of other members, the Deputy Secretary-General, H.M. Nicholas, Archduke of Scotia, became acting Secretary-General, offering to organize elections for a new permanent leadership, and preparing to quantify the status of the organization in a "State of the League" address.
