Lian Harper is the daughter of Titans' hero Arsenal and the deadly but beautiful assassin Jade Nguyen, known as Cheshire.
Roy Harper, who had temporarily abandoned his identity as the costumed archer called Speedy, was working undercover for the US government. His assignment: track down Cheshire, gain her confidence, and hand her over to the authorities. However, as goes any good adventure story, he fell in love with Cheshire and she with him. Though he could not bring himself to turn her in, he knew his presence would eventually lead his people to her. So, thinking he was doing the right thing, he walked out on Jade, vanishing in the night and leaving her to learn much later his true name and affiliations.
A year later, having returned to the super-hero gig, Speedy was, among a number of Titans, summoned to Switzerland to prevent Cheshire from sabotaging a critical international arms control meeting. It was during this encounter that he learned for the first time of Lian, and with Cheshire's consent, he later took custody of Lian.
Lian is sweet, enthusiastic little girl whose innocence is often used as a weapon against Arsenal by his teammates, who can often achieve blackmail material if they hang around the child long enough. ;)
Being as young as she is, Lian hasn't really had a chance to develop an actual style, and considering she endures the influence of all the residents at Titans Tower, she's been subjected to all kinds of music. Hence her wide variety of tastes, including what her daddy chooses to sing to her at bedtime. Thankfully though, she's still in the Raffi and Beach Boys stage. (Let's hope it lasts a few more years...)
Lian's name should be "Trouble" - because that's exactly what she is. Innocently so, true, and oh how I laugh at all who suffer because of it! She's candid and cute and a bit too smart for her own good. She's often the one who whacks someone with the plain truth (that no one else can convey to them) without getting pummeled. Now *that's* talent.
