Name: Alfred Pennyworth Nicknames: Al, Alfie Occupation: Butler to multi-billionaire Bruce Wayne Base of Operations: Stately Wayne Manor, Gotham City Marital Status: Single Height: 6' Weight: 160 lbs. Eyes: Blue Hair: Black, now graying
Alfred Pennyworth is the consummate gentlemans gentleman, tending to the needs of both millionaire and crime fighter and keeping the duality that is Bruce Wayne and Batman separate and distinct. The faithful butler and valet to the Wayne Family since shortly after Bruce Wayne's birth, he has been the faithful "servant" to the Wayne's.
As the Batmans most trusted ally, Alfred has aided and abetted Bruce Wayne since Waynes parents were brutally murdered all those years ago, becoming Bruces legal guardian shortly following the tragic event. In many ways he allows Wayne the freedom to pursue his obsession of avenging his parents deaths, despite his initial attempts to deter his charge from his chosen course.
In fact, it was Alfred himself, a master thespian trained on the British stage, who taught Wayne vocal mimicry and the art of disguise, skills the Batman has used to great effect in his war on crime. And it is Alfred who has patiently waited the return of the Dark Knight each night.
He sews and creates many of Batman's weapons and costumes. He is valet, chauffer, door-greeter, telephone-answerer, medic, cook, and housekeeper. Yep - he cleans, dusts, polishes - the works. He even designs and builds engines and machines that aid the Batman in his quest. |

Alfred has also played a huge role in the raising of several members of the Family, not just Bruce Wayne alone. He was key is bringing up orphan Dick Grayson, rebllious Jason Todd for the brief time he lived at the Manor and as Robin, and even now as a trusted friend and confidant to the current Robin, Tim Drake. Alfred has great insight into all members of the Family even if he hasnt had direct contact with them.
And just as Batman needs a Robin to balance his obsession, the Caped Crusader also needs an Alfred to tend his wounds and remind him to be human. He is the glue that holds the team together and the voice of reason. |

MUSIC STYLE
Um.probably classical, i.e. Mozart, and such. Opera's probably on the list, too....that sort of thing hes the butler for goodness sakesI honestly can't imagine the gentleman's gentleman playing air-guitar to U2 or anything.... |

PERSONAL THOUGHTS
Alrighty, who doesnt want an Alfred? Who doesnt want someone who can tell you youre acting stupid without ever insulting you? And a British accent, how can you not love that? Alfred is awesome perfect timing, perfect choice of words, and a wisdom that never seems to fail. Not to mention how hilarious he is! Whether he means to be so or not we may never know... He may not be a superhero in terms of what the general public would imagine, but Alfred is definitely a life-saver and a hero to his (still growing) family. |
