Kotobuki Ran Ran is the feisty leading of the manga. All she wants out of life is to have fun and buy lots of clothes. Her parents and older brother are police officers and they want Ran to follow in their footsteps. Although Ran proves to be a bit of a crime fighter, she's determined to not be a policewoman. She doesn't do particularly well in school because she believes that studying in the present doesn't assure a happy future.
Yamazaki Miyu Miyu's a girl in the same class as Ran. She used to be a gang leader and had a rebellious, violent attitude but when her lifestyle landed her in a hospital, she decided it was time to change her ways and she became the sweet, genki character she is now. She has a major crush on Yamato, Ran's older brother. Miyu always tries to do good deeds to make up for her previous actions.
Hoshino Aya Aya is another classmate and friend of Ran's. She's a very sensitive and intelligent girl, and before she became friends with Ran she appeared to be the perfect student without many friends or much of a life at all. Ran discovered that she was escort dating and went after her to find out why. It turned out that she only did it to get money and she only studied so hard to please her parents. Her parents were very strict and wouldn't let her get a job after school since they didn't want it to affect her grades. Aya has a crush on Rei.
Otohata Rei Rei is a slightly older student in a different school than the Ran and the gals. His best bud is Yuuya and we often see them studying in cafes. We first meet Rei when Ran takes his bag because he came in first place in the Grand Prix contest in a kogal magazine and it was in style to have a winner's bag. He's calm and cool as a cucumber. He rejects Aya a lot but he still talks to her so who knows if they'll ever get together. He doesn't like kogals, despite the fact that many idolize him. He's very good lookin and mysterious, but he often appears to be cold and stuck up.
Asou Yuuya Yuuya is Rei's best friend and came in 2nd place in the Grand Prix contest. Because of his placing, most girls can't remember his name and so they just call him "second place." He had a major crush on Ran but it was unrequited so he hooked up with Mami. He's a happy-go-lucky kind of guy and often does silly things to get Ran's attention.
Honda Mami Mami is Ran's rival kogal and Yuuya's current significant other. She's very vain and competitive, particularly with Ran, as they both value helping others. Mami comes from an upper-class family and attends a private, all-girls school.. To the people in her school, she's a perfect student and very ladylike, but to anyone outside she is hotheaded and spoiled. She's still sweet on the inside, she just doesn't let it show very often.
Kuroi Tatsuki Tasuki's the Para Para dancer that caused Ran to have the famous red streak in her hair. They met while dancing. He's energetic and carefree and has a lot in common with Ran. He may seem to be air-headed but he does have a more serious side. But maybe Ran will end up with Yuuya after all, because she refuses to kiss Tasuki until she feels that she truly loves him, and this sometimes seems like it may never happen.
Kotobuki Yamato Yamato's Ran's older brother and a police officer, just like his parents. He wants to be a good officer but Ran makes it difficult for him because she always makes him cover for her. He returns Miyu's affections but won't let his feelings show too much until she's older.
Kotobuki Sayo Sayo is Ran's younger sister and a magogal. She also wants to be a police officer when she grows up and often runs around with her boyfriend looking for crimes to solve, stirring up trouble and being a drama queen. She annoys Ran all the time and has a tendency to make very funny comments at interesting times. Sayo's an 8th grader.
Masato Masato is Sayo's boyfriend. He acts a lot like her. I'm guessing he's Sayo's age...I really don't know a lot about him!
