The Basics

An auto-x is a race through a set course of rubber cones as fast as you can. They are usually held at parking lots or wide open paved areas. Best time wins. Hit a cone and a point is added to your time, simple as that. Here is a basic overview of an autocross course:

Autocrosses are divided into two series in the HSCC: nite and day. The day series events usually start around 8:30am. They are generally more relaxed and use a different course every time. Also day series events have 6 runs instead of the usual 3. Nite series races are more demanding of your skills. They use the same course over an entire season and start around 7pm. You get points for both series which are added up over a season.
