What’s New with
the Knights of Columbus?
I talked with Fr. Larry and asked him what he thinks of the
community and what his plans are.
Q: How do you like this area?
A: I really like this area,
the people are very
friendly and the community
is easy going.
Q: How long do you expect to
be here for?
A: I am hoping for at least
10 years, but I will be here until my
services are no longer needed or they are needed somewhere else.
Q: What are your expectations
and plans for St. Mary’s?
A:
I am
hoping to have a Parish meeting in the very near future to discuss my thoughts
and receive input from the parishioners.
I would like to say, I am open to ideas.
Q: You are living at the
rectory and have a house a mile up the road, how do we go about contacting you?
A: It’s very easy, If I am
not here at the rectory, chances are I am at my house. You are more then welcome to stop by up
there if you need something, and the rectory phone rings at my house also. I would like to mention that, unless it is
an emergency, I like to take Wednesday’s off.
Q: Do you have anything else
you would like to say?
A: I may be the Priest at St.
Mary’s, but the church belongs to all of us.
So we should all work together
and bring our thoughts, ideas, concerns together in order to have unity. I would also like to ask...if there is
anyone out there who knows how to play the organ and would like to volunteer
their time to play it at church, please contact me. It would be greatly appreciated.
C & B / 225 RAFFLE TICKETS
It’s that time of year again, C & B raffle tickets are
available and so are the 225 Raffle tickets.
Contact any one of the officers and they will be glad to get you
some.
The C & B tickets, you can’t beat, $1.00 a ticket or
$6.00 for a book of 14. And the 225
raffle are $20.00 a ticket, but you have several chances to win. There are
10 weekly drawings and the final drawing will be held at the Christmas
party. If you win any time through out
this time period your name goes back in for the next drawing. We had several people last year win 2, 3 and
even 4 times.
YOUTH NIGHT
Well, school has started
and so has youth night. Youth night is
co—sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and is held every Monday and Friday
nights at the Port Leyden Gymnasium, from 7:00 pm till 9:00 pm. Kids of all ages are welcome to attend, and
you don’t have to be catholic to be involved.
It’s loads of fun with games like: dodge ball, basketball, kickball and
much more. We hope to see you there.
Membership
Membership has been good
this summer, we have 3 new men who joined up in our council. John Dury is re-instated, Albert Henry
transferred into our council, and Bill Wallace has been accepted as a new
member.
Speaking of members, our council has over 90 members and I
know every body is busy, but if we could get some input from everybody on ways
to raise money and have fun doing it.
If you’re too busy to come to a meeting, send us a letter because we are
up for new ideas. Thanks a lot.
Halloween Party
Wow, Halloween
already? Get your costumes out and stop
on by. The Knights of Columbus are
going to be hosting a Halloween party this year for kids of all ages. Prizes will be given for several different
categories. More details will be
available next month.
The K of C meetings
are held every second Wednesday of the month at 8:00 in St. Mary’s church hall.
