What’s New with the Knights of Columbus?
The Knights monthly newsletter to keep informed on what’s happening in our council #7794.
Last month I told you we had a web site, well get your pencils out because here it is: www.geocities.com/willer2/constableville.html
Is this a little too long for you to remember? It is for me, so all I did to make things easier was I added it to my favorites and now it’s just a click away.
Well, here we are again. It’s the middle of November and next week is Thanksgiving then Christmas. Where is the time going? Anyhow, last month the Knights of Columbus held their annual Halloween party at St. Mary’s church hall and we would like to give a big thanks to everyone who attended and volunteered their time to help out. There was plenty of fun and plenty of food. We would also like to thank the Deputy Grand Knight for getting the DJ, who did a wonderful job.
Speaking of parties, December 16th at St. Mary’s church hall, there is going to be a Christmas party at 12:00. There will be a meat platter provided, please bring a covered dish to pass. After dinner at 12:45, Santa is going to drop by for a visit and hand out presents to all the boys and girls (parents, please bring a gift for Santa to give to your children).
ALL are invited to come and if you purchased a Two Twenty Five ticket you are invited too.
Another thank you goes out to everybody who helped out with the chicken Bar B Que at St. Martin’s church on November 4th. We raised over $500.00 from all of you who purchased the chicken dinners and there were approximately 50 dinners that were donated to needy families in the area. Thank you everybody!
The Two Twenty Five raffle is still going on. Drawings are being held weekly. I would like to apologize for the mistake I made last month when I said the drawings were monthly.
C & B tickets are still available. Only a dollar a ticket or $6.00 for a book of twelve. Can’t beat that for $50,000 worth of prizes. Don’t know where to get the tickets at? No problem, contact Ron Gordon at 376-3984 and he would be glad to get you some. Just remember that the dead line for ticket sales is The 28th of November and the drawings will be held on December 1.
We all know the holiday season is upon us and it’s supposed to be the time for joy, but for some families it’s not. That’s why this weekend, our local Knights of Columbus are going to try and make a few families happier this year by giving them Turkey baskets for Thanksgiving. If you would like to volunteer your time or if you know of a family in need, please contact one of our officers.
Nationally, the Knights of Columbus has organized the "Hero Fund" for all of the families who have lost a family member in the World Trade Center
Attacks. So far, the K of C has handed out $3,000.00 to 3400 families.
Here are a few things passed on by our Grand Knight…
The Halloween party was a big success and thanks to everybody who volunteered and to everybody that came and had fun.
Would it be nice to be a Council of Recognition? In order to get that honor, we need to fulfill 4 criteria in order for us to be a Council of Recognition and as of now, we have 3 / 4.
Receive at least 2 awards
Double C & B ticket quota
Youth activity
The only one we lack is membership. We have to increase our membership by 10%.
Another nice honor to have would be Star Council. But then again, we need to have 3 criteria for that and right now we have 2/ 3.
Fulfillment of insurance
Activities
The only one we lack is membership. We have to have at least 5 new members and then we could be Star Council.
We all know what the stars and stripes stand for on our flag, but do we know what the colors stand for with the K of C?
Red – Sacred heart of Jesus
White – Host
Blue – Mantle of Mary
There will also be a Christmas party on Saturday December 15th for all 4th degree Knights, at the Partridge Berry Inn, off of route 3 in Watertown. If interested, you need to register by
It’s been noticed that membership is the big thing now. Membership has to be a big thing because without members, we have no council. Without any council, who is to help the church, who is to help out the needy, who would bring Santa into town? If you’re worried about it taking up all of your time, don’t be because if you volunteer one day out of the year and never come to a meeting, it takes up (if you’re really unlucky) maybe 4 - 5 hours.
