Sunday, December 15 the Knights of Columbus will put on
their annual Christmas party at St. Mary’s church. Festivities start at Noon and will last until 2:00. Santa will show up sometime around 12:30 to
see all the boys and girls. Come and
enjoy the fun, watch the kids open some gifts.
Remember, it’s a covered dish to pass so it’s bound to be some good
eating with all those secret recipes out there.
The 225 raffle will be winding up that day also, so if
you purchased a ticket, stop by to see if you won. See you there, Merry Christmas.
If you know of somebody interested in becoming a member
of the Knights of Columbus, there will be a First & Second degree held in
Adams on Sunday, January.
There will also be a district Deputy meeting held in
Watertown on Friday, January 31. If
interested, contact our District deputy.
December 20, 21 & 22, all are welcome to attend. Activity begins at 5:30 sharp at Shues
General store, as actors Mary and Joseph begin their journey toward the Inn
(Port Leyden Fire Hall). Mary will be
riding a donkey, accompanied by Joseph.
Come enjoy all the fun and celebrate the holiday season with family and
friends. The Lewis County Sherif’s
dept, Citizens patrol and volunteers will be on site for safety purposes. Hope to see you there.
Well everybody, we sold 86 books this year and that isn’t
too bad. The problem is, less then half
our members sold these books. Remember,
by us selling these books, we are raising revenue for our council. They are only $1.00 a ticket or $6.00 a
book. If you sell these by the ticket,
that is $14.00 a book and an $8.00 profit for our council, the other $6.00 goes
to State.
The Knights of Columbus are going to be handing out
Christmas dinners to families in the area who are in need. We are going to put together 50 dinners to
be distributed, so if you know of a family that may benefit from this dinner
and / or would like to volunteer your time to help deliver these meals, please
contact one of our officers.
Venison
On Wednesday, January 15, there will be a venison feed at
the Italian / American home in Watertown, at 6:30 pm. If you are a member of the Knights of Columbus and have an up to
date ID card, you will eat for free.
Not too bad of a deal, especially if that 10 point got away this year.
As everybody can see, we are kind of empty on our trading
post. If you have something you want to
get rid of or are looking for something to buy, let us know and we’ll put it in
the news letter for you. Believe it or
not, I make up approximately 60 copies of the news letter each month and
distribute them to St. Mary’s, St. Martin’s and St. John’s Churches, and they
all go by the end of the month, so people do look at this news letter and you
never know, one of them may be looking for that one particular item that you’re
getting rid of.
The Turkey basket delivery this year went very
well. The Knights of Columbus delivered
50 turkey baskets to people in the area who are in need. We would like to thank the Altar Rosary
Sodality, Cub Scouts and the Port Leyden food pantry for helping support our
cause. Without your help, we would not
have been able to deliver as many dinners as we did. If I forgot to thank somebody for helping our cause, I
apologize.
